I'm working with the Ian texture an using the default Superfly settings and materials it comes with, but the render comes out with a very granular look to it. I've tried messing with the bump settings, there is no displacement map, and the Scatter node (which I'm not familiar with). I tried adjusting everything in the scatter node (which is between the texture map and alternate diffuse node) but nothing really changes. And when I bypass the Scatter node, it looks al washed out. See the attached images. The top is the original wit the settings shown. The bottom is bypassing the Scatter node. Any suggestions?Ian Problem.jpg Screen Shot 2018-03-11 at 1.39.22 PM.png IanProblem-NoScatter.jpg

Maybe try adding a tint to the diffuse color?

If you mean with the no Scatter settings, I already did. Even with that, he's still very washed out and shiny. I also decreased the specular settings to tone down his shininess for the last pic.

I am not sure what to suggest. I have not been a Poser user since Superfly was introduced. Maybe contact the vendor?

Typically see that when there is high spec and/or bump and strong lighting made worse by the scattering ( assume the high contrast increases the convergence time)

Can't see the bump or spec map so based on my experiments with the Amy texture with the above node set-up

  1. Check bump map has a gamma value of 1
  2. Check spec map has "use Gamma value from Render settings"
  3. Try turning off the bump completely to see if that improves it

Based on the second render would agree the spec map looks too bright.

The Default settings are awful! Especially for skin!
Try Medium Quality SSS
or High Quality...

The scatter node does add a lot of color to the render so he will look lighter without it. What are your render settings?

Spookie and I have been using Superfly from the beginning as I suspect Andy and Andy's suggestion would be my personal first go to. Higher render settings are always a good start even though it does take a good deal longer to render. Good luck and please share your results. We all can still learn more.
