Sorry only questions, but maybe prompt a memory for someone. Is this happening during preview or Render time? If preview, does switching to sreed help? Does running ezskin fix the problem when it happens with v4? What is the nature of the crash, does the application terminate or does it just hang? If hang could Poser be hunting for texture files? Are the texture files in the material room being displayed ok?

I have seen this before, when loading a normal MAT onto a previous one that uses Snarly's EZSkin. EZSkin sets the Diffuse Color value to zero, so anything loaded to it, and not connected to Alternate Diffuse will show as black. Never had a crash from it, though.

When using EZskin3, I process it as: 1. image maps only 2. Cycles skin 3. glassy cornea fix (assuming you have bopperthijs' plug-in ... available at the SM forum search "EZskin3") This pretty much takes care of the black.

My figures go black while setting up! I import a figure and apply the mat it then goes black and Posers hangs! It only happens now and again. Cheers

If you're following the same workflow and its intermittant one thought is the disks where the runtimes are stored could be having problems. Suggest checking the event manger for disk errors.

It might be time for a driver update too IDK. I've had some funny stuff happen in Poser when a GPU driver acted funny.

If it is different textures doing this, rather than one texture sometimes doing it and sometimes not, then it is probably a poor path reference so poser is searching for the missing file(s). Try setting search options to shallow or off under general preferences in the edit menu. Then poser will quickly flash up a can't find warning and you can locate the missing files yourself which can be quicker.
