What are some good YouTube tutorials for beginners of Blender?

Hello 3dkaya

You can first take a look at this thread which we all have placed links to good beginner tutorials Welcome and General Blender Info for Newbies

CGCookie has a great Youtube channel with many great beginner tutorials

CG Masters also another great Youtube channel for tutorials from beginners to advance

Alimayo Arango has great beginner project tutorials ranging on many topics mostly modeling

Remington Graphics good blend of beginner and intermediate tutorials

Blender Guru has a good Youtube channel

I am sure others will add to this list but think this is a good starting point and each of the ones I list has their own style I am sure you will find one that will fit your liking

Excellent starting point, indeed, Lobo. 🙂 I would have a few suggestions myself, but do wonder which version 3DKaya is going to try to learn. 2.8 is going to be a bit of a learning curve for me: the UI has seen significant changes! Looking forward to it, TBH... but no question it's something to take into consideration.

Very true Robyn and I forgot to take that into consideration CG Masters does have some new tutorials focus on 2.8 but I also found this channel recently and this creator is doing some beginning lessons to get you familiar with 2.8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRP2fha-3g0&feature=youtu.be

That video is truly excellent: well-paced and covers all the crucial stuff thoroughly. Brilliant find, Lobo... thank you so much! ?

Glad it helped Robyn there are many who are doing 2.8 stuff another I would recommend in small doses is Jayanam on Youtube he has done many 2.8 tutorials recently I say in small doses because his voice can put me to sleep sometimes 😀 plus he also does some python programming in Blender which if not mistaken you were looking into at one time

That is correct, Lobo. Indeed, I've actually written an addon that paints a rudimentary shader on specific Poser-ish figures: more of a proof-of-concept and programmer-scratching-her-own-itch than anything particularly useful or polished, but I did put it on Github, thinking it might be useful to someone, potentially.

As I've been using it myself, I'm finding the workflow needlessly convoluted and awkward, so for 2.8, I'll be creating a more streamlined version. But, for the most part, it would only suit individuals who pose characters in Poser in order to render them in scenes in Blender. Probably not the huge appeal I'd initially envisaged when I started developing the thing.

Hi Robyn If I am not mistaken that is how the mcasuals daz scripts start with an idea and became a way to export from Daz to render in Blender still sure others might find something similar to that for Poser useful never know

One of the regulars on the SM Poser forum has suggested a GoPoser (or GoP) link, and how useful it would be, as many Poser users use Blender as well.

A link would probably be a very good thing. Personally though the only issues I have ever had was with rigging when exporting to Blender from Poser ( Posette was by the simplest of the base models I found) although a long time ago now, I've only opened Poser like 3 times in the last 18 months. Did have a render somewhere of 12 different poser girls with their base poser textures in the one image may be time to do another lol.

Still got issues with the elbows and trying to cover modesty. No prizes for guessing who they are.poser.jpg

Base textures just pulled straight out of poser no subsurf or extra nodes added at all. and the hair is old Audry by Swarm and Quarkers radiant Jaguar just imported straight into blender Incantrix

There was a small tutorial on mcasuals on how to use the script with Cararra and Poser and I think we discussed it once here but outcomes were always iffy
