It is with great sadness that I learned we lost Syltermermaid (Ute Mulrooney) last Friday Feb.08. She had been ill for awhile & had just returned home from the hospital. She was hopeful for the future, happy to be home, and doing better, then suddenly passed away from a heart attack.
Ute was a talented and prolific artist and created many characters and renderings. Most of you probably have a few of her girls in your runtimes or followed her gallery. She loved working with Poser and was a great inspiration to many. She found me many years ago on Rendo and over the years we became close friends. She was always full of encouragement and ideas, freely shared her work and expertise and without her I would have given up long ago. She was a dear friend and my own life will never be the same without her.
Rest in peace, old friend.

Condolences to her family and may you rest in peace Ute!
We were around the same age, friends for a long time till we grew apart when she moved her store to contentparadise... but I always cherished her character and considered her one of us the "old timers".
This is such a sad and unexpected piece of news.. :(

It hurts in the heart the news that Syltermermaid is no longer with us. An artist of magnificent talent, but a human being in the true sense of the word. I know if there are heavens and angels that's where it should be. Rest in peace, my friend.

Wow - that... that really sucks. My condolences, seriously... The heart attack is the most common way to meet one's mortality, yet it is in my opinion the most diabolical way to go; they strike without warning, and are rarely survivable, even with modern medicine.
( Kinda sensitive about cardiac crap these days... I'm toting around a shiny little stent (and not pushing daisies myself) only because in 2016, my own heart had the good sense to vapor-lock less than a mile from the Pacific Northwest's premier cardiac trauma center. Sadly, not everyone has the constant collision of astronomical luck that seems to be the story of my life. )
But, it brings something to mind... a lot of us have been in and around this little hobby for years, if not decades (since 2001 for me, and that's after bumping out of doing meshes, code, and mapping for the gaming industry for a big chunk of the 1990s).
I suspect we'll see a lot more folks leaving this mortal coil as the years roll on, sadly.
We're getting older, folks.
I just hope the CG art community isn't getting older along with it...
