You're probably looking for transmap/texture combos... not just texture maps... I don't believe I've seen any.... though I could be mistaken.

There are a couple .. jschoen had a set for the male hair that is parted in the middle ... there are a few others out there

The problem is that the basic hair styles provided with Poser 4 pre-date the advances that have grown out of the availability of transparency mapping. The one-piece "plastic helmet" objects aren't built to take transmaps. The ones that look most realistic, from a variety of directions, have multiple layers and texture templates that have been unwrapped so that detailed texture maps and transparency maps can be painted. Kozaburo's excellent free hair models and maps really got things going. Study them to learn more about it's done.
