Looking for the ID of an Artist. This Artist is a living master (in my oppinion)

I can’t find a specific artist that I admired the work of in the mid '90’s. Here is what I do know. Unfortunately I cannot find any samples of his work. This would be much easier if I could.

  1. He had a gallery down the street (same side) on the main street, from Peter Max’s Gallery in Carmel, California.
  2. He was from Italy and his first name was (is?) Robert.
  3. His classic realistic style is remanicent of Rembrandt and Vermeer.
  4. The light and texture of his oil paintings were such that his classic Madonna and Child pieces took my breath away and his still lifes were so detailed that one could almost touch the smooth ceramic of a Ming vase or the dew drop of a rad rose. He did this with his basic technique plus very specific lighting.
  5. His prints were also available at the James Bond Gallery in Los Gatos, CA at the time.

Any information on this artist would be greatly appreciated.

Sadly, the photos don't do the art justice. It honestly looks like you could reach out and touch the subjects in the paintings!!
