I just bought poser pro 11. I want to make something anime-like in the style of RWBY. None of the models that come with the program are what I am looking for. What is the best way to achieve a basic model to work off of? Is there a rwby model downloadable somewhere? Should I start with one of the other models as close as possible to what I want and attempt to modify it until I am satisfied? Should I start from the ground up? I only have poser pro 11 to work with so I'm lacking other programs at the moment.

Any pointers are appreciated.

There are a whole range of models of different types available, some as freebies, some are paid for models. Starting a model from scratch isn't a realistic proposition without significant expertise (and talent) with a 3d modelling program. Try this site

https://poserdazfreebies.miraheze.org/wiki/Figures

and have look at the figures to see if you can find something closer to what you are looking for. And have you checked out the cartoon figures with p11, such as LaRoo? Also try playing around with morphs included in the figures, and scaling (especially of the heads of the toon figures).

Thank you! From a bit of googling, I found Daz studio for free, and I may try to make models on that if possible. What I've read says it's easy. I saw in a tutorial that poser isn't a content creation software, it's for content manipulation, so if I can make models in daz I should be good to go. Then I can just import them to poser and go from there. Thoughts?

I'm afraid Dazstudio may not be the better software of choice for creating content. However, there are free modeling programs available that you can try. Hexagon can be downloaded from Daz3d, Blender is an open source program which can also render scenes. Do Google searches and determine which software may suite your needs. Once you have found a source that you feel comfortable working with, establish a work flow integrating all your software to create what you want to render.

I just posted this on another forum thread, in response to a similar question, so I thought I'd post it here as well. (My apologies if that other thread was started by the same person!)

You might want to try out some of the older Japanese figures that were designed for anime and are still available for free. My favorites are Sera (by futepen) and Kururu (by Mato). I downloaded both of them a few years ago and managed to gather an impressive collection of free stuff for them (clothes, hair, skin, etc.) I also have the Wardrobe Wizard module for them, so I can convert clothes from other figures.

There's also Deco (woman), Decocco (girl), and Maybe (man), all by Akatora, and they also have some free clothes and hair. They're set up to be used with Poser's OpenGL Cartoon mode, so their coloring will look a bit weird in the more standard Texture Shading mode. But you can apply other kinds of materials to them if you'd prefer to get the anime look another way.
