MY POSER PRO 2014 GAME DEVELOPER HAS DIED.
THE 7 DAY GRACE PERIOD TO ENTER INFORMATION HAS EXPIRED AND I NOW HAVE TO RE-ENTER SERIAL INFORMATION. THE SOFTWARE IS KAPUT UNTIL THAT HAPPENS.
THIS IS A STANDALONE MACHINE PROHIBITED FROM ACCESSING THE INTERNET. RATHER THAN GO THROUGH A PAINFUL TRANSFER EVVERY SIX MONTHS I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT PERMANENT ON THIS MACHINE.
I REQUEST ASSISTANCE TO GET IT WORKING.
I ASKED EARLIER (IN A THREAD BELOW AND IN EMAILS TO STORE AT RENDEROSISTY) TO TRY AND MAKE THE LICENSE PERMANENT ON THIS MACHINE.
I didn't want to go another six months and see this message again. I may also have to get the serial number from you now as at this moment I'm not sure where it is.
I sent emails to the store but there was no response. In fairness it was a weekend in the summer when people take vacations, so I understand how this can fall through the cracks. Kindly check emails to you, including one from a few moments ago. Thank you.

Well, ticket is in. Now the waiting begins.
consumer573 posted Wed, 21 August 2019 at 12:09 PM
Was sent 'invitation' to create self-help account. Signed up. Ticket shows up in this account, but none of my prior correspondence with Smith Micro.
No response to ticket.
I hope this expiration doesn't set the librarys information to default. I've got a lot of information there.
Waiting. ?

If you have your libraries in tact, and in separate runtimes on your computer ... you can save them else where, rename them and redirect when you Poser is back up and running.

I remember one file, and now I forget what it is or the name, that is a text list of all the runtime libraries (PPro2014GameDeveloper). I had made a back-up of this because I can edit the text and thus arrange the libraries in the manner I want to see them in Poser. It's somewhere in a folder called apps or something and not with the other smith micro stuff. Thanks Boni, for reminding me.

Still no response from tech support. "Dead Posers... aren't much fun." (hums to the tune of the classic 'dead puppies') "They don't come when you call, they don't run in the hall.... they don't chase squirrels at all... Ded Ded Dead Posers, aren't much fun." ?

I started asking for Help on Friday the 16th of August. While I've gotten appreciated support from forum members, I've received nothing from official sources other than where to sigh up for help, but with no help actually coming. This latest round I started at 11:23 est, so even west coast folks should be at work or getting to work. It's now about 7PM here on the east coast.
Hey guys. My Poser is DEAD. It's YOUR Kill switch that did it, not any fault of mine or my system.
I got nothin' here. And all I hear is crickets.
All I wanted to do was make Poser permanent on my graphics machine, which does not connect to the internet. Another thread said Smith Micro is shutting down their inputs on Sept 2nd. I've left my phone number in my emails and on my support ticket.
WHERE ARE YOU??????
LeeMoon posted Wed, 21 August 2019 at 7:13 PM
I received a prompt reply to a question I had regarding Poser Pro 11 after submitting a query via the "Contact Us" form on the official Poser website. Perhaps give that a try as well? I hope you get everything sorted out soon.
consumer573 posted Thu, 22 August 2019 at 7:24 AM
What is the official Poser website? I'm going to assume you mean Smith Micro and I'll give that a try. Thanks.
So far I've still received no (official) help in getting it reactivated. No replys to emails, service tickets and no official help from the forum. Both Renderosity and Smith Micro are silent on the problem (assuming the service tickets went to Smith Micro).
This all started last week and I started my round of inquiries last Friday before the poser kill switch went into affect. It's now Thursday a week later and all I've done so far is put in daily requests for help and assistance and repeat the same thing over and over. It goes into a black void.
My Poser has reverted to an unregistered mode and I will have to enter everything from scratch if it ever gets running again.
As of right now I have no poser software but probably more than a thousand dollars - or maybe (probably) more - of content acquired for Poser over the last ten years.
Unless I load DAZ this is beginning to look like it is going to be wasted money.
consumer573 posted Thu, 22 August 2019 at 7:52 AM
Lee Moon, I Googled "Official Poser website" which indeed brought me to Smith Micro. When I got there I clicked "Support" and that took me to the service ticket page that I filled out yesterday. Perhaps things are in transition, but one would think that I'd at least get an acknowledgement that SOMEONE has even RECEIVED one of my requests for help and is doing something about it.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Hi consumer573, glad you're making some headway with your licensing. I'm sorry that I forgot to mention the link to the new Poser website in my earlier posts. Here's the site: www.posersoftware.com The Contact link is at the top right of the main page. That will lead you to a web form to fill out. I had a response in a couple of hours using it last week or so.
consumer573 posted Thu, 22 August 2019 at 10:11 AM
Thanks LeeMoon, and Cage (I got my chuckle for the day with your post as well as good info). The support tab leads to the same page that the Smith Micro one does. I received an Email a short while ago from Jenn Blake at Renderosity who acknowledged my pain and said she is looking into it. Meanwhile. before my Poser died I had started a thread asking about manual activation and making things permanent. I had a reply late last night from a Richard60 which looks to have been helpful. I still do not have my Poser Running again, but I think it's getting closer. I'm really hopefull that Jenn and her contact at Smith Micro have something for me sometime today, or at least before the weekend. Here's a link to the Richard 60 advice as well as what I did with it and how I made out: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/?thread_id=2935248&page_number=1#msg43600071
Both of your comments here help me feel that I'm not all alone, so thank you!

Not sure what that above is all about; it's been blocked so I have no idea. I apologize for any unpleasantness. I am trying to keep this factual, especially now that it is dragging on. My software is still inaccessible. That is, my Poser still dead. If it wasn't I'd be working with it rather than writing here.
It is now Friday August 23, one week after I first started making inquiries about how to make Poser permanent on my graphics machine, which I was told could easily be done - the idea of having a kill switch hanging over my head and kicking the can down the road every few months being distasteful.
The software is one part, but I look at it like the razors Gillette used to sell or the cameras Kodak used to sell. I now have a lot invested in models because of Poser. These models are the razor blades or film equivalent of that model. To have something like Poser Software die automatically like mine has done and then getting NO resolution for this long is a big thing.
If this goes on much longer, I'll HAVE to look at rebuilding my machine without Poser.
I'll force myself to use DAZ and go cold turkey. If I have to go this route I probably won't have much nice to say about the software in the future, except to remind people it is only a temporary loan so don't invest in models that are tied to it unless you are willing have that investment end when your temporary loan of the software ends.
consumer573 posted Fri, 23 August 2019 at 7:37 AM
By the way, no response yet from the self-help ticket that I took the effort to create earlier either.
I'm going through this now hopefully to get it resolved before the rumored September final hand-off of Poser from Smith Micro to Renderosity. I have no idea whether Renderosity is planning to make this a subscription software or not, and if they are I'd like at least to be able to continue running Poser2014 Game Developer with the models I have as I am told can be done under the Smith Micro licenses.

If I may:
You were unlucky that this happened in a bad time. Renderosity is likely terribly drowning under tasks right now with the Poser move from Smith Micro. They might have just not been able to get to you yet, as they might have a backlog of tickets at this point.

The help ticket was closed without a response. I found out through an email that for now Jenn B. does both the email at store as well as the support tickets. Since we were corresponding via email she just closed the ticket not realizing that I did not know she was behind both. I've had entities close support tickets just so they wouldn't have them open to deal with or because it timed out when noone on the support end responded. I also had to make clear that I am writing on either an inexpensive laptop or a tablet when I'm here, not my graphics machine.
I take your point, Ohki. I did not choose the timing, however, that was already set in the software, which is currently driving me.
Afrodite-Ohki posted Fri, 23 August 2019 at 2:58 PM
I know, I'm not blaming you at all - I'm just mentioning a possible reason why it's taking them so long.

Norman, It looks like the support representative for this kind of problem is for the moment going to be Jenn Blake at Renderosity. It sounds like she is working a hand-off with the long time support representative at Smith Micro, John Csaky. Try emailing "Store@Renderosity.Com" as well as "jennblake@renderosity.com". They may be inundated with other issues but it seems Jenn is genuinely trying to help me.
A problem I encountered is that the method of managing my software license so that I could theoretically remove one or add one was not set up and there is no guidance or instruction on what to do. You had to be a fairly recent purchaser of the software to have gone through that. My is already operating under some older system.
Ed, for me it is not just a matter of getting Poser Running. I could have done that during the grace period. I want to eliminate the kill switch on this particular machine so that in six months I don't have to go through the idiotic and painful process of porting an activation key file to my laptop, having Smith Micro verify it, and then physically porting it back again and having the machine either say "ok you're good for six months (which had started out as every 30 days)" or "dummy you made a mistake somewhere, try again." It's taken MORE than a week so far and the issue is still not resolved, even with me logging in every - single - day - (except Monday). Imagine how long this could go if I just kept kicking the kill siwitch can down the road for awhile and everybody on the corporate end thinking things were rosy and hunky-dori.
It is Saturday the 24th of August and My Poser Software is still Kaput. A week has gone by. I've sent in my serial number on three different support tickets at the portal, and now three times to the store. Maybe next week the software will work again.

Okay, my name is not Ed. Why does everyone keep calling me that? EClark is fine. Consumer, you want something I can't help you with. sorry. Norman, instructions for manual activation of Poser is in your Poser 11 reference manual. You still need an internet connection, I believe. HEY! Poser Overlords! Can we help this guy? It's been 5 days with no resolution.
Hey! Consumer! I must ask. It is 2019. When did you purchase your 2014 Poser Pro Game Developer?
Things are still migrating, policies being set, teams being assembled and I think this is undiscovered country for Renderosity. Are you on a time sensitive project? Would a swap to Poser Pro solve your problem?

I just wrote a whole paragraph, but my timing must be off because I was kicked out and now it's lost to the ether.
My Poser is now operational and I think the license may finally be permanent. More info when I have time.

Quietrob,
I bought it when it came out. I have PoserPro11, also when it came out, but '14Game Developer is stable. 11 had problems and apparently they botched the Library? It does not work the same as 2014, I understand. I bought the Physical verision of Poser11Pro and it is still in its wrapper. Since things in the area have been overtaken by DAZ, there really wasn't much incentive to load 11 as I still had a lot to learn, and '14pro-gd does pretty much what I want when I'm just playing around. If I wanted to be up to date I'd load DAZ. But then I'd also have a whole lot more things to SPEND money on....
Poser is a money sink and a time sink. All it does is encourage me to buy things from Renderosity. That's why the idea of a kill switch is so funny. I mean, what else do you do with Poser except buy things on Renderosity? You would think that if you gave away the older versions you would encourage more people to come into the 3D modeling and buy items from the store. It's a niche.
As a practical matter I should and will be spending more of the time I devote to 3D modeling with software like Ligthwave or Rhino or Unity which has the potential of bringing revenue in.
Thank you, Jenn.

Some people got that error message when they put in the wrong serial number. Copy and paste it, if you can.

Had an issue with the registration screen recently myself. To get it back I deleted a folder - C:/ProgramData/Poser/11 - that holds the registration info then ran Poser again and re-entered serial. Had to show Hidden Items to see that folder.
