Hi folks I hope you're all as excited about the new Poser as I am! And the new content that is included - isn't it impressive?
I know some people have experienced difficulties, but I hope the problems will be sorted out soon. I know everyone on the Bondware team is working flat out and doing their best, so I think all the issues will be ironed out soon.
So… what next for Snarly?
First off, I've just uploaded a fix for EZSkin 2 so that it doesn't crash in Poser 11.2 Now, EZSkin 2 isn't supposed to work AT ALL in Poser 11, but I know some people do still use it, so it might as well not crash :) Anyway, grab it here: (It's the 'EZSkin 2 fix' file - just replace your old version with the one in the zip)
Some other scripts, notably by Dimension3D, Shaderworks and the Reality plugin aren't too happy about running in Poser 11.2 either. I've made a fix for that, which is being tested at the moment. Soon you'll be able to get them all working again :) (If anybody on a Mac computer wants to test it, that'd be cool - contact me by Sitemail)
Next up, I'm going to make a completely new version of SceneFixer. That script is not supposed to be used in Poser 11 (but of course I can't stop you) as it wasn't designed to work with the changes made to the Material Room. I originally wrote it just for my own use, and kept adding stuff to it in a completely disorganised fashion. Anyway, now that I'm going to be using Poser again I want a version of that utility which is suited for Poser 11, so I'm going to make one. And it's going to be much better :)
More news later…

Hi Snarly!
Any chance you will update EZMat? You see one aspect I use is the Texture Manager ... if the textures have a numbered indicator (2_teeth, 1_iris) You can drop a mat file in and instruct it to populate all references to that map. A real time saver when you want to use a shader you like and just change the maps. I know that the shader section was for firefly using bagginsbills (and others) great shaders ... but a Superfly version with all the wonderful little perks would be amazing.
Just some food for thought. And again, Welcome back!!

I rarely set up a Poser scene without EZSkin3 or EZMetals being involved, usually both; so it's good news to have you back on the job, so to speak. :) In addition though, I use one or other of the late Dimension3D's scripts nearly every time I use Poser, so if you can make them play nicely in 11.2 you will truly be the hero of the hour!

Not to me, yet. I'm just going by hearsay at this point; XL has been mentioned on the forums. I'm still downloading stuff, and my SM licence is a permanent one so I plan to hold off upgrading until the early adopters have shaken all the bugs out for me. :)
I use Render Firefly every time I render, XS nearly every time I go in the material room, and XL is my preferred method for importing DAZ Studio content. Those three would be top of my 'show stopper' list, if it helps. And thank you!
Snarlygribbly posted Mon, 23 September 2019 at 1:59 PM
I know that XL works once my AVFix has been applied. I suspect the same will be true for XS, but I don't have that one :)

I imagine he used the same code in several products, so I'd tend to agree the outlook is good.
I'll try updating my test machine after the initial hue and cry has settled down, and if nobody else has tried it in the interim I'll happily report my findings. We probably need a 'Python scripts that work in 11.2' thread, but let's wait until your AVFix is released since that will definitely put a different slant on things.

I can't test in PP2014 as I no longer have it installed. Still, it should work in both. Best is to download the latest version of EZSkin2 (see EZSkin_2_fix.zip at http://snarlygribbly.org/poser/ and then AVFix is not needed.

I tried to download EZSkin2 fix, but the download time just kept going up and up. I had to give up. I am on a fast internet computer. I don't know what the problem is. Also, your site took a long time to load.

It's either your machine, or something's corrupted. The download's only 62 Kb, darn near instantaneous. So's the website, just links and text. I just tried.

It can go anywhere you like. However, if you put it into the scriptsmenu of your application runtime, then it will appear in the Poser menu, which saves you from having to browse to the saved location. Best is to just overwrite the previous file, though - it is a direct replacement for it.

EZSkin 3 does not need a fix and continues to work normally in Poser 11.2. The fix is only for EZSkin 2, which isn't recommended for any version of Poser 11 but some people like to use it anyway, which is why I updated it. I'm surprised it doesn't cause problems in Poser 11 :-D

randym77 posted Wed, 14 April 2021 at 6:40 AM
I believe they're working on fixing both Snarly's and D3D's scripts to work in Poser 12.
One of the problems is that they were forced to upgrade to Python 3, since Python 2 reached its end of life. That broke all the previous Python scripts.
Another problem is that the way some shaders work in Poser 12 has changed, and I think it's still being fiddled with.
What a lot of us are doing is keeping Poser 11 so we can run the old scripts, then rendering in Poser 12. Poser 12 is much faster at Superfly renders. Though you may have to adjust the materials a little.
Rhia474 posted Wed, 14 April 2021 at 7:01 AM Online Now!
Yes, right now it requires soime workflow adjustments. But so is life as we move forward in this strange new world. I find it oddly apt.
If we keep being stuck in a rut, we end up narrow and restricted. I keep playing with P11 and P12 together while awaiting the script updates.
