Snarlygribbly;
Could I induce you to create a PropLight MkII Python script? While working on AppleJack's Treehouse 2, I am frustrated that I can't save nested/parented props with all parented lights.
For example, I have a haze ring prop parented to the construct. The haze ring conceals the UV seam between sky and ground. I have three area lights parented to the construct, in a line which emanates from where the moon appears in the texturing JPEG. I want to be able to save the construct prop with subset -to include the parented haze ring prop- and include the three parented area lights.
Example 2: I made an interior lamp for the Treehouse 2. I want to be able to save the interior lamp prop as a smart prop (retaining its parenting to the Treehouse), along with its subset (parented Firefly IDL emitter prop), and its parented point light.
This should be included with the next iteration of Poser (P12). If I save a prop it should include:
[A] parenting, both upward and downward (subset and smart)
[B] Lights or anything else (cameras? figures?) parented to that prop.
Is this feasible?

Note: The current PropLight script does most of this, and the only omission is that it doesn't save child props of the selected prop.
I loaded the stock Treehouse 2 into a default scene. Loading the TreeHsIntLt prop correctly parents to the treehouse, and brings the parented point light with it, but the TreeHsIntEmtr (a child of the saved prop TreeHsIntLt) was omitted.
Similarly, after deleting the default construct, I loaded the PropLight-saved construct, and it brought all three area lights in with it, properly parented to the construct. However, it omitted the haze ring prop, a child of the PropLight-saved construct.
I can make a preload CR2 for the Treehouse, with all the extras. For piecing together a scene, I can also make smart props of the omitted items, so that they can be added to the PropLight-saved PP2s. But it would be more end-user friendly to be able to easily save nested assemblies of props with attached lights.

This wouldn't be hard to do, but I need to prioritise my time, which is pretty limited, and I'm not sure there's much of a demand for this? I'll add it to my (long) list though.

Not me necessarily ... but Snarly, maybe you could ask some of your loyal followers who know Python to help you out. I'm not a coder.

I've decided to add this project as a module for my new EZScene script (a replacement for the hack that was SceneFixer). So, there will indeed be a PropLight MkII :)

My thanks to you, Snarly. Anyone who wants to save a cluster of props with parented lights will find this very handy.

Will you be rebuilding the EZmat script? I use it (still) to change maps in shaders so that they populate all like maps in the body (i.e. bring in the arms and it will apply to all "limbs" references. So Time saving!!) but would like to see an update on the wonderful shaders that were for Firefly. Oh, and be able to have a floating window.

EZMat is indeed on my list. It will be a very big job to update it though, as Poser has changed significantly since it was written.
It already can be a floating window, by the way.

Is snarlygribbly back? I'm so happy to hear that name again. I feared he was lost after what happened over at . . . um . . . someplace that starts with an *R*. Anyway, his scripts have been wonderful. Are there any new scripts or updates for this new version of Poser?
I see over on his site messages such as "I have no idea if any of these scripts work in the latest builds of Poser"; and "Also, the scripts are no longer supported by Snarlygribbly."
I hope he's coming back and will take up some of the wonderful work he has done.

SnarlyG just fixed my python problem. I think it took him about two minutes. It wasn't even his python! He is most definitely around.
I hope he's coming back and will take up some of the wonderful work he has done.

Hi inquire - thanks for the kind words!
Yes, I am back and thinking about what new contributions I can make to the Poser world.
I don't have as much time as I once did, but the enthusiasm has returned now that our favourite 3D app is in good hands again :)

EZScene is coming along well, and I have made four modules for it, including the new EZSkin 4 Anyway, Proplight MkII has now risen to the top of my list and I intend to make it tomorrow :) Watch this space.

Hi Snarlygribbly, I hope you are OK in these strange times...
Just wondering if you needed any help with testing your scripts, such as Ezskin4? Or if you managed to convert to python 3 yet?
If you did, is there a place where I can get the new scripts?
Thanks for everything you have done, are doing and might do in the future - You have made poser so brilliant!
