This model is based on my latest tutorial for Blender 2.8. Rendered with Blender Eevee engine. Some information about the technical aspects includes rendering at 1080p resolution, 29.97fps. Each frame only took around 1 second per frame on my Nvidia RTX 2070 GPU with Ambient Occlusion, 1 area light, HDRI environment, and entirely procedural textures with SSS material. No postwork to the render outside of editing in Premiere for upload to Youtube. I'm astounded at the quality that can be achieved with what is essentially a real-time gaming engine in Eevee. I did also do a Cycles version, which is very very similar to the quality here, with primary differences being the quality of the shadows. The Cycles shadows, of course, are far more accurate and clean than the Eevee version here, but unless you view them both side by side, it's a hard thing to notice.

This would be cool if you could animate it weaving its self into itself .. be very hard to do though i bet.

Thanks for the idea. That would be a challenge, to say the least, but it could be a fun idea to play around with! The object consists of individual solid parts, each one interlocked into the other. The original intention is for 3d printing the model since the parts are all solid objects, it can be 3d printed. I have a tutorial video of how to model this shape from scratch, so you could get an idea of what I mean there. One thing I might do is an animation of each part "drawing" itself into position on the screen, then rotating around until it's in the final shape you see here. That could be something I'll play around with for the next one. Thanks for the idea! Here's the tutorial video if you want to see how it was made.
