Ever since I posted about the Golden Ratio or Rule of thirds in compensation, I've been wondering it there were some way to do an overlay grid to set up a Rule of thirds grid in Poser. So far, I'm thinking that putting a grid texture on a plane and setting it up in front of your scene maybe the only way to do something like that. Any other suggestions?

I have no idea Earl, but I always liked the add-on Dreamlight had come up with for DS back when I was using DS 3 Advanced a lot. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it for Poser, but sure wouldn't mind having something like it, as I used it a lot back in the day.

As far as suggestions, the add-on I have for DS is an add-on for the Camera, not something I placed in front of the scene. I think that way it's always set up for whatever size render you want to do. Sorry I don't have any further suggestions.

@EClark1894 If the camera and preview windows are static that might work but any adjustment in either of these would require the plane to be adjusted. How about using an image overlay utility eg Overlay2 or something similar - not used it so just a thought.

If the grid is mapped to a plane, parent the plane to a camera.

Thanks Sam. Hadn't thought of that.

Additionally, maybe some smart creative person can create a camtarget.obz alternative with the Golden Ratio/Rule of Thirds grid which would also work as the depth of field focus indicator thingie. It would let you see the plane of focus and/or see the Rule of Thirds grid from any camera.

Just a thought.

The Rule of Thirds by Krios Menoti - August 31st, 2017. This is a simple geometry (obj) that replaces the standard Poser Depth of Field guide with a version that can be used to figure out the "sweet spots" of the Rule of Thirds.

BTW, I am not in any way advocating the link I posted above. Thought you'd like an alternative opinion. ROT is, IMO - like any other "rule" - a useful tool you can cheerfully ignore as and when you like.

I'm about to make a grid in obj format if anyone wants it. PM me and I'll get it out to you.
