So some days now since venturing into the nightmare that appears to be Poser and my knowledge is growing along with my conviction that this is just about the worse example I have ever seen of something that should, considering its not free, be intuitive and user friendly. During my hunt for info I have discovered that Poser is now owned by Bondware and that Renderosity is minding the shop since Smith Micro left the scene. It seems to me that looking at the really early versions of this thing the actual interface remains pretty much the same. Not to say that some stuff has not been done, attempts to add creative options and improve some aspects have been made, overall it seems to me those have only succeeded in making the thing even more difficult to understand. Its possibly ok if your a CG expert or someone with technological skills, but if, like me your a hobbyist with little in that respect, your in for a rough ride! One of the videos I watched the narrator mentions that this programme is not without glitches, in what world is it okay for the producers of instructional material for their own programme to admit its got glitches and years later to still be taking money and not having cured those faults. Renderosity is a commercial undertaking I think, and this may well be the best thing that has happened to Poser for years. The new owners may see the commercial potential from a drastic rethink in terms of user appeal. If you want to see the content that people create you need to make things easy to use to encourage sales. I will continue to try and fathom this thing out and hope that soon there will be a dramatic evolution in what is an over complicated and difficult to learn programme... Right now its definitely not worth the money...
