Have been working hard to retrieve contents of scenes. Now am finding a lot of files that I need now have the extention .ABC or .tmp, or .pov. am on a windows system and these were all working folders until main drive failure. They were all retrieved from one of the failed drives but now have the wrong ext. so what do I do?

I have many scenes in my head, but non of those are on paper.
I have yet to learn to bring those to life.
The ones that I give life, are not those I see

Do you know what extension they should have? Try renaming them and test whether they open in the expected way?

They maybe temporary files created by a program, for example if the source file was an obz, the program may have uncompressed the contents into a temporary file before processing. Another possibility is the recovery process found the body of a file without the name so created a temporary name. In addition to following Kerya's post if the file is not too large you could try loading it into notepad to see if the contents are readable (eg obj) or they contain a readable signature at the beginning of the file.

.ABC and .TMP files are created by the Poser cloth simulator when it runs. You can safely leave them as they are.
