Customer service told me they can still activate, but can't offer the installer (WFF?!)

Which version? Mine is Infinite, but if you purchased a different one, it would not work.
Additionally, if it were the right one, I would like to see either proof of purchase or at the very least, your correspondence with E-On

Thanks, I just learned it won‘t work anyway as they are linked to the user. So no chance to ever use my software again.

So they still have installers for versions 2011 and up, but giving users a free or reduced price upgrade to that version is not their idea of customer friendly support.
Luckily Maxon upgraded my C4D R11 to R21 perpetual for a good price, so bye bye E-on
