The Poser dev team and beta testing team is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the Poser 11.3 release. We are fortunate that most of this work can be done from home so we are on track to release on March 30th.
We produce nightly builds for developer testing and once weekly, the latest, stable, nightly build is promoted to beta status for the broader beta testing team.
A lesser know fact is that anyone with a license for Poser 11 and an adventurous spirit can also download the latest beta for free by entering their license key and scrolling to the bottom of the "Download Additional Files" page here: https://www.posersoftware.com/downloads/access. Be sure to check out the Release_Notes.txt for info on included improvements and bug fixes.
The usual warnings about "beta" software apply and some exciting content announcements will have to wait until next week. But, if you are stuck at home and looking for a creative diversion, we hope this will help.

I'm a Macintosh user, with OS 10.12.6, Sierra. I'm wondering if Poser 11.3 will run in this OS. Is anyone using or testing the Mac version of 11.3 in Sierra?

I just tried to install the update on my Mac and get an error message saying that it could not install because "Apple could not verify it for malicious software and needed to be updated"? WTF?
DocMatter posted Mon, 30 March 2020 at 8:59 AM
Never mind, I figured out how to bypass the message.
tim posted Mon, 30 March 2020 at 9:22 AM Online Now! Site Admin
We cover that briefly in the "Installation Instructions" link on the Downloads page. Apple has become very strict with their installer checks making it almost impossible to avoid those warnings given the open-source projects/libraries used in Poser. That said, it has been tested and runs fine in all recent versions of OS X including Catalina.
inquire posted Mon, 30 March 2020 at 1:07 PM
So, has it been released yet? I didn't get notice to download it. Also, any complaints about it from Mac users? Anyone think it's worse than the 11.2 version? I know that sometimes the "upgrades" present problems that have to be worked through.

You'll likely see upgrade notice the next time you start Poser. Release notes on download page here: https://www.posersoftware.com/downloads

Downloaded and installed but Poser is updated to 11.2..329. Uninstalled and repeated, new download, same result. Is anyone else experiencing this? Yes I can get the last beta, but don't want to have n "old" version if the official version on the downloads page is newer.

You're still running the old 11.2 executable somehow. It should show 11.3.740. Is this Windows/Mac?
Nails60 posted Mon, 30 March 2020 at 2:59 PM
Mine is on windows. As I said I downloaded the latest installers from the downloads page of posersoftware.com (twice), with the correct time stamp 30 March 2020

Maybe your desktop icons still pointed to old executables?
tim posted Mon, 30 March 2020 at 3:07 PM Online Now! Site Admin
If you can get comfortable doing Uninstall before Install, it will definitely fix this problem. The 11.3 Windows installer does a much better job preserving your preferences if you just take the defaults when installing.
Nails60 posted Mon, 30 March 2020 at 3:21 PM
I used the uninstall option in the install process. The original desktop icon is deleted and a new one created. I never had 11.2.329 on my system, I was happy with 11.2.309 so hadn't updated since then. The installer did install a new version of poser, but not the correct one. I can only assume somewhere along the line a cached version of the installer is being picked up.

I just downloaded & ran the Windows installer from Downloads page (https://www.posersoftware.com/downloads). It installed the right version (11.3.740).
Can you check your local Downloads folder & make sure the date/time on the installer file is today?
Nails60 posted Mon, 30 March 2020 at 4:23 PM
Yes it had todays date, 20:12 uk time. I downloaded the last beta version available which worked correctly and installed 11.3.729. This file was larger than the finstaller I downloaded from the downloads page so I'm puzzled. I'll wait a few days before trying to download again.

Why does it still install legacy support files for certain figures ? While installing both the Poser exe and the Poser support exe I see it installing files for , Don Judy Miki ,miki 1 miki 2 and a bunch of other figures which I do not (or ever actually ) use or are even installed with Poser (as in all the Miki's)

I got the right version. 11.3.740. You guys do have some problem with updating your links though. RDNA is no more, neither is Content Paradise and AFAIK, YUR8digital. I couldn't get the SmithMicro Gallery Portal to open. Why Firefox? I use Chrome. Should it use the Browser I use?
Nails60 posted Mon, 30 March 2020 at 6:45 PM
Think I've solved my puzzle. If you click on where it says download you get the correct file, but if you click on where it says poser 11 install.exe you get an old one it seems!

I have no idea what the hell is going on with my download, 3 times now, uninstalling each time. The version I am downloading is 03-30-2020 03:03 am I have tried both download links, even cleared the cookies in my browser, but I still get 11.2..329

Start install
uninstalled Poser 11
interrupted install
rebooted
installed to new location - C:/Program Files/Poser Software/Poser 11
installer still showing 11.2
start Poser after install

@tastiger sorry for the hassle factor. We use Amazon Cloudfront to edge-cache the release installers which are actually stored in Amazon S3.
After more research, it appears it can take up to 24 hrs for updates to propagate to all edge-cache locations. More detail here if interested: https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/cloudfront-serving-outdated-content-s3/
Please try downloading the installers again later today and let us know if problems persist.

Our web devs just changed to invalidate edge cache when new files are uploaded, so hopefully better experience going forward.

That's an interesting and useful finding. We think that everything on the web propagates instantly, but obviously it doesn't! The Post Office could probably beat the AWS distribution speed.
