Heya,

The manual in chapter 7 talks all about viewing and creating/modifying Extended Details information. It explicitly says this about the tags field "Tags: Keywords that can help users find your content in Library searches."

So how do you do that? I tried putting unique values in every single extended details field for a product that didn't have the xmp file, and I verified the file was created and ended up with the data, but searching by any of the values does not pull up the product.

I did find a four year old thread in some Smith Micro poser forums that shows a field on the search pane, below the category checkboxes, it has a down-arrow next to the work Tags, and three dots. This makes me think there use to be functionality to search by Tags, or maybe other fields by the name of the field.

Is there any way to enable searching by Tags? I'm not seeing much use for the extended details if you cannot search by any of the data.

It is a convenient way to build metadata for content you create for yourself, but it is totally useless in the score of so much content already in the marketplace on other sites. If you expand out the three dots at the bottom of the search panel, make sure that the Extended Details Panel is checked. It might be checked by default.

I do have it check, and actually find it useful to adjust the window so the top line with the file location on disk is showing. But there seem to be no options anywhere to enable searching by the fields. I have a feeling it was intended for that, and the scripts/metadatabuilder dialog almost looks like you could maybe build the files in bulk. but it's not worth anything if no searching...

I agree. I played with it last night but I did not reach any conclusion to its practicality. The manual needs a complete overhaul. Many features have been changed, removed, and/or added, and not current documentation has been noted to the manual. I hope with the release of Poser 12, we get an updated version.
