Subject: Microbiology Animation For Blender 2.8x Eevee

LuxXeon ( ) posted Fri, 15 May 2020 at 8:12 PM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 11:15 PM

This is an animation for a commercial project I created using low poly models with PBR texture maps for Blender 2.81 Eevee render engine. It's an HD scene rendered at 60FPS for better motion and picture clarity on Youtube. Hope you like it. Done entirely in Blender.

Thank you so much, my friend. The animation is using particles along a path with all the low poly shapes. There are actually 10 microbes (viruses) in the scene, and of course the red and white blood cells. The entire scene, with all the models, contains roughly 200k polygons total. That includes all 12 models as well as the environment. All textures were painted by hand in 3dCoat using the 3dcoat app link to Blender. Models were created entirely in Blender with regular modeling techniques and sculpting, then retopologized inside Blender, and then normal maps were baked to the low poly meshes from the high res objects.

Edit to say: I'm very happy with Eevee in the versions from 2.81 on. I thought for sure this scene would present a problem to the render engine based on previous experience with Eevee rendering HD scenes at 60FPS, but there were no problems at all with the render. No torn frames, no artifacts. Very good results in very little time. Each frame took only around 2.5 seconds per frame using a Nvidia RTX 2070 GPU with quite a bit of render effects active. This scene uses Occlusion, bloom, SSS and screen space reflections. I know it's hard to tell if there's any AO, but take my word if I turn it off it's a huge difference. ;)
