Hi there, long time no post. I made this character and for a story, I am doing and I am curious how old she looks to everyone else. I normally wouldn't care, but she is pretty small in the boob department and nudity is common in the story I am working on so I figured I should ask someone.

Thanks, I wasn't sure, I don't know many 16-19 year old females and I wasn't going to go looking for pictures on the net It's a fantasy world she is going to be in, but she is from Earth and is out of high school so she is supposed to be around 18-20. But I wanted to ask the opinions of others to see if my thinking of her age was skewed and it looks like it might be.

I have seen some women who are young looking get accused of being teens when they are 21+ just because they don't have huge assets and their face looks very youthful. Athletes generally have smaller breasts because of not having as much body fat due to being so active.

LOL Apparently it is 16 here too, but 16 is not out of high school and the character has to be graduated for this story. Besides my storytelling abilities are a bit short when dealing with school stuff, my newest experience is college and my high school experience is pretty dated since I graduated in 85 lol.

I think she looks 16ish. So be careful posting nude pictures of her in the galleries here, or posing her in a sexual provocative was or you could get a TOS Violation. Just so you know..she is a very pretty girl tho!
KarinaKiev posted Sun, 24 May 2020 at 8:37 AM
IMVHO she could even pass as 12/13-ish.
Much depends on the body shape and head vs. body size... We live in dangerous times where even shifting pixels around in a computer can get you vanned...
But I would >absolutely< keep that pretty face. So make sure she looks like 21+, make her grow some large boobs and widen her hip so that she can't be mistaken as a teen by even the most malevolent white knight...
? I was sometimes criticized for naming my figure "SASHA-16".
Because some white knights considered that as an implementation of age.
However, it never was:
it was just the year of the figure's prototype (like the Russian do with their tanks and guns: T-80, AK-47, AK-74, asf) Following this ill logic then DAZ's "V4" should be four years of age...
Just an off-topic rant. We live in a hypocritical society where it's ok to show children blown to pieces in action movies, but it could entail possible life imprisonment (in some countries) for rendering children playing on a nudist beach...
I'm really glad that I'm old enough to not having to endure this madness much longer...
Rant finished!!!

Drop the generalized notion about breast size and age. Once you go into that direction you begin to sexualize the character as an object rather than an individual. Believe me, I have seen thirteen-year-old females with ample buxom, and in many cultures that is a sign of sexuality and fertility. Develop your character as an individual and don't draw attention to her as a sexual object.
EldritchCellar posted Sun, 24 May 2020 at 8:52 AM
Well said hborre.
I think the character is reminiscent of V4 bonnie, a popular freebie character that can be found at sharecg. It's the textures mostly. Link Below.
There was a whole slew of freckled, pig-tailed, lolita type characters for v4 at a point in time.
I think the jawline and ears of dasquid's character is what makes it distinctive...

I had never seen that V4 character. The body is mostly a body on the character that gives a good part of her face, (I mixed her face from two different characters and mostly left the body alone other than a few tweaks here and there The character that gives most of itself to her is Krashwerks Nadya. I am rendering on my main machine at the moment, but as soon as that is done, I will post a picture of her full body (clothed naturally)

never mind how old the character looks. You need to fix the skull cap for her hair piece. The skull cap is colliding with her forehead and the interaction of the sss shaders and the transparent skull cap are making those awful black marks.

hborre posted Sun, 24 May 2020 at 8:30 PM
Middle to upper teens, give or take.
DCArt posted Mon, 25 May 2020 at 1:27 AM
There are a few things in the face that (to me) make it seem more youthful than a 19-20 year old. So I took the liberty of playing with the first screen cap a bit.
From top to bottom ....
The eyebrows generally follow the curve of the eye fold. So I tweaked her left brow to illustrate this a little more.
Her cheeks might be a bit too rounded, making her appear younger. I raised her cheekbones a bit (you can see it more on HER right side of face)
The nose is rather petite, which also makes her look younger. I added a little bit of meat to her nose tip to give it slightly more character.
Finally I moved her jawline in some and raised her chin, which ages her just a tad as well.
These changes don't have to be major, but those are the areas that cried "youth" to me. The chin could be a little more pronounced in my version, but hopefully this gives you some ideas of areas that might help a bit.
That ... and her chest shape. It doesn't have to be a HUGE change, but the shape of her chest is more akin to a girl that is at age of puberty. I was a walking ironing board when I was in my early 20s, but I think I had more than she has. So yeah, add a little more meat there as well.

Nice work. A lot of the impression comes from make-up and hairdo. These pigtails are pretty schoolgirl. Not the best choice if she is 16 and wants to talk herself into a nightclub.
hborre posted Mon, 25 May 2020 at 9:58 AM
Just another observation, women don't generally develop a muscular physique like men at a young age due to differences in testosterone levels. It just takes longer and more intense working out.
Rhia474 posted Mon, 25 May 2020 at 10:22 AM
For the US sensibilities, that face will get you into trouble in certain scenes, with the law, if anyone objects. For general proportions, the face and the muscular legs are way our of sync, even for a high school athletes (for which her face is too young). The upper chest and face suggest early to mid teens, I'd place it around 15, although I've seen 12 year olds with more chest.
Generally it is a nice morph, but I'd suggest to decide which way you want to go here.
dasquid posted Tue, 26 May 2020 at 2:38 AM
Thanks, everyone, my current problem, is how to make her look older, without changing her into a completely different character, because I want to keep her looking mostly the same, but I don't want her to look too damned young.
I just realized that I have the Growing up product for G8 female, and I have been messing with that and I immediately started by using the older teen setting and it really didn't change her much that I noticed. There was more change when I decided to try the adult setting, and it really didn't change her that much either, though it was more noticeable. I'll fiddle around with it and post a few different settings. Also, The entire body is basically the same as the Krashwerks character I used except for a few tweaks here and there which were nothing drastic because it was an almost flat as a board type of character I was going for, and as for the ability to build muscle for teen girls.. It may not be the easiest thing to do but I know it's possible because my sister did back when she ran track, and she was pretty good at it, but I take your point.

Ok. Subject seems cold to the touch now but ok.
Changing the hair helped quite a bit.
My advice would be to stay away from erotic situations with the character and avoid overt nudity, if the work is for public consumption. I guess? Nothing new to add on that.
Because she is a semi realistic looking character (and I don't care what fancy shaders or rendering you use, poser and daz figures look semi realistic at the very best, anyone that thinks otherwise needs to stop looking at poser characters so much. In fact a lot of the things I see now look worse because now they look more like glassy eyed creepy skin covered mannikins rather than artistic illustrations. End of mini rant) it's easy to cross the line into dangerous perversity. If you had made an anime toon character with ridiculous anatomical attributes this discussion wouldn't even be necessary, regardless of how stylistically child-like the face looked. It's just the bizarre nature of this very small corner of the art world.
Funny Story. When I was near graduating art college and had just gotten into Poser I had a critical theory class that focused on the grotesque and subjects like abjection and simulacra. For a final paper I thought that I'd present an analysis on the subculture of Poser Art, it seemed too perfect and quite novel. No one in my class had even heard of Poser. So much Poser/Daz Studio Art is unintentionally bizarre or grotesque or kitsch (mostly kitsch) that I finally decided that the subject was too big to encapsulate succinctly in a relatively short essay. But I would have had some really good slides! Anyway, I chose to write instead about the art of a renowned California ceramicist, Robert Arneson, and the work he produced in his final years when dying of cancer.
All of this might sound like Poser bashing but that's not the case... I really love the program and the peculiar subculture.
But that's another story.
Anyway. Just some conversational thoughts while a test render cooks. Wouldn't mind seeing your story "in the flesh" as it were. Good luck.

I am a LONG time member of Renderosity, I just have not posted in quite a few years, and I wouldn't even think of posting something like that here, that is something for Renderotica or hentai Foundry.
This particular character is supposed to be mistaken for a child even though she is an adult, though I think in the written story she will be mistaken for a child as normal, but in any images, I will use the older looking version of herself in those scenes to keep anyone from ALSO mistaking her for a child. The whole point of it being that her youthful looks and lack of large breasts keeps her from being assaulted in a fantasy world by a race known for assaulting almost anything that moves. (orcs) In fact, she gets semi adopted by them. But since she would be appearing nude and later in some adult situations I needed to know how old she looked since as I mentioned my own perception of how old a girl looks is a bit off I guess. But I didn't want to go ahead with my story and do the visual version of any scenes with a character that looked too young, because I am not into that and I don't plan on making anything that could be taken the wrong way.
I appreciate everyone's input.
Back when I was in college I was in a drawing class where the professor told us to do a piece with whatever medium we wanted to use, so I made a piece in Poser, then I had to in the last minutes before I had class, make an entirely new scene and render it fast before class and then get to class because my scene had crashed in the original one and I lost the entire scene because it corrupted so my render was kinda basic but it was a chick beating the hell out of a robot and the name of the piece was Fuck Technology. The immediate response of most of the class was that I was guilty of plagiarism because I had used Poser and had not made every damned model and texture that I had used... I was pissed and I was about ready to tell them all to go fuck themselves and bail. but my professor told me to sit down and he asked them what made them think that it was plagiarism. They trotted out the whole thing that I had just used models and textures that others had made. My professor was cool as fuck and pointed at the several people who were accusing me of plagiarism and said well you three made found item pieces, did you male all the stuff that you picked up off the street and glued to your piece? No? then shut the fuck up about plagiarism. Poser is nothing but jumbled components in a pile without someone to arrange them into a composition and light it before rendering it with settings chosen by the artist. He was one of my favorite professors when I was in college. And yeah I didn't hear another word about plagiarism.

My only advice would be to save everything you do (as in don't trash anything but set it aside) and not get too obsessed with perfection. It's funny how you look back on things you've done that you thought weren't up to snuff at the time but seeing them with fresh eyes lends a different perspective. Poser is almost custom made for comics work but the collection of content can often be a chore. If you need any help I could lend a hand with some not overly complex modeling or morphs. If I have the time, I'm pretty flakely with things I feel I HAVE to do, but keep it in mind. The morphs might be difficult as I don't use genesis (yet)...
Anyway, not to stir the pot more or be overly provocative but your first version of the character brought to mind Adrian Lynn's 1997 film version of Nabokov's Lolita, why I mentioned it a couple times... look at your character and look at Dominque Swain (15 at the time of filming) in this clip, you'll see the similarities. Almost the stereotypical example, and something you see a lot in Poser imagery. But... that's a rather unpleasant rabbit hole of conjecture to travel down. One need only look at the bondage and torture Poser imagery and products on display at another content site (guess) and see that the use of ready made virtual humans has a much darker side, which I suppose we all realize...

My daughter drew it. It's her self portrait.

OK, I'm a bit late to the party, bu here's my two bits worth...
Fer starters I'd expand on what KarinaKiev briefly mentioned about head/ body proportions. Age can be subtly implied by this relationship, w/ ranges being from babies measurin' 4 heads tall (I believe) all the way to "Heroic" proportions of 8 heads, your average adult being 6- 6 1/2 heads tall if I recall my art theory correctly. Limb length also plays a factor, but is mostly only applicable to the very young or (what's the politically correct term of the day for midgets?) or fantasy races. Your full body image suggests late teens/ young adult to me by this criteria.
A 'nother point I'd make is that you have the benefit of your character being in a story (as opposed to a random single image). Use the story to describe/ explain her age/ appearance... mebbe have her get carded while goin' into a bar or sumpin' if ya don' wanna write a bunch of exposition. Just be wary of any single "sneek peek" renders ya might post of her in adult situations (if yr still bothered by the age question).
As for the hair, I kinda agree 'bout the pigtails bein' a "younger" thing in many cultures. Perhaps a single braid would be a good compromise as that can read as more "elegant" than "youthful". Or a single ponytail (unbraided) for a more casual appearance.
Luck w/ yr project :)

Yep, your art theory stuff is wrong, misremembered or whatnot.
Average = 7 1/2 heads
Ideal = 8 heads
Heroic = 9 heads... or more!
According to a couple of my reference books, anyhow.

Yup, 100% correct, just scale down some spheres to measure/use the ruler function in Poser/ or use human photo front and side references (to make sure the legs arms and torso are all correct as well.)
