Subject: Just got an order confirmation email for an order I didn't make

Just got confirmation emails for an order (113515915) I didn't make. Looks like someone (can provide the member name if necessary) bought something and the system sent the emails to more than 800 email addresses.

Just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Same. That's quite the list of email addresses. Little surprised we haven't heard anything from Rendo about this yet.

Same here. Thanks Renderosity for making our e-mail adresses available to public. Can't wait to get more spam in my basket. Ever heared about testing before going live with a new system? Don't think so.

I just got an email from Renderosity saying that they implemented a new mailing system and that it went fubar, so that's what this was. They said they disabled the new system, so hopefully we won't get something like this again.

That's a pretty big glitch to not have caught it earlier in testing, assuming there was testing.

Got the same email and while I'm glad for the explanation and that they've disabled the problematic system, I guess we will have to keep our fingers crossed that nobody in that list is an unethical sort who will use the list for their own marketing. I've deleted the emails, myself, so y'all don't have to worry about me. ;)

Competitors will love the e-mail list of the Renderosity customer base, making special offers to them. That's not just a little email system issue, it's a disaster for the Rendo Sales team, beside the lose of trust.

Hmmmm, I haven't seen either of those emails, but then I pay through PayPal, so if you folks are using a credit card directly in the Renderosity store, that may have triggered it. I only get a confirmation email AFTER the store has received an email from PayPal about the payment, which triggers an email telling me they received the payment from PayPal.

While doing some testing on a couple changes/improvements to the ebots/email system there was 1 email that was sent out incorrectly. We are very sorry about this. Another email was sent out to all affected that you should have received explaining what happened. It should not happen again. 😄
