Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 11 2:52 am)
Hi Rokket. Long time. I haven't been on quarantine, working full time throughout. Just returned to Poser after about a 4 year hiatus. The reason? A Woman and California LOL.
Anyway, nice to see you again.

Yeah! I remember you. It's nice to see you back here too! Like you, I have been working steady since this thing started. Too steady. I was supposed to take a vacation in Feb. That got cancelled. I don't know when I will be able to go home, but I am hoping soon. I have layers upon layers of rules I have to follow because I am a federal employee and work the the DOD...

Hey Rokket!!! Good to see you online again!!
_______________
OK . . . Where's my chocolate?
Recent? Hm. Well I've been working on some character sets for La Femme. I'm not showing them yet. Lots of morphs and textures. I'll show you a couple of head morphs, unfinalized, in Mudbox if you want. Just human characters, I'm keeping other things for her to myself for a while... all planned as marketplace submissions. Can't do as freebies because I'm using MR texture sets as bases to paint from...

Um. Also a freebie Orc custom morph for V4 that's laying around waiting to be finished. Textures need to be painted. I only have Saturdays to work on Poser stuff, so slow going...

Rokket, Download Blender 2.8. Much easier to use. Not so reliant on shortcuts and more menu friendly. Much more usable, it's really incredible.
I get it though, I still use wings as my box modeler, it's an old friend.

I have 2.8, but every time I want to start trying to learn it, I get side tracked or give up. I have to find a bunch of reliable, easy to follow tutorials I can download. I spend way too much time with no internet access.

Just find one task to complete in blender and the rest will open up slowly. I'm still pretty uncomfortable in it myself. Thus far all I've done in it is some sculpting and map baking, but yeah. Find one thing and work from there.
Anyway, back to Poser... talk to you later man.

Enjoy your day. I can already do a few things with it. What I need to do is start with basic modeling and move on from there.

I learned how to model firstt in Blender, then learned how to do the short cuts. Thing is, I'm so comfortable not using them.
I have to get myself comfortable with it, too. I think I need to put away all my toys and concentrate on it solely until I get it. I just have to find the discipline to do that.

I wanted to get a new workstation desk for my music gear. I searched high and low for something that will work, and then decided I might as well build one. I can't find blueprints to match what is in my head, so I modeled one instead. I will see about getting it to scale and everything when I get home. But this gives me a pretty good idea on how to build it, using all plywood.

Very nice image there randym77, elegant.
Usually the reactions I get to my stuff are "great, now I can't sleep" lol

welcome back!
Thanks! I don't know how long I will be around this time... usually I am only here for short bursts and then nothing. But I will eventually get home long enough to burn up the creative juices that have been overflowing.

Eldritch - i like your sculpts for LF - particularly the realistic ones. Great work. Rokket - good to have you back. You've been very productive! Love your toon characters. Your supergirl is very sweet and how i imagine her as a young teen growing up.
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!

I have always liked her costume. I've done a lot of different versions of it. I had a one piece suit like Superman for her awhile back. And on the TV series, they are dressing her in one now.

Try modeling relatively simple stuff first and just play with it. Then add to it. Most of the shortcuts I know, I found by doing research on how to model particular items. Your knowledge will grow from that point the more you use it.

Sounds good. I will start setting time aside each night after work to get that done.

Nice to see you back, rokket. Some superb work from everyone here. Makes me feel like I should be getting something done but quite honestly, everything is hard work lately.
Been spending a lot of time making stuff in RL. Made a footstool for Claire, a table for Sam, a drawing desk for Ilona, a pedalboard for me. Next up is a great big huge shelf unit for fish tanks and for the first time ever, I'm going to have to buy some power tools to make it. Spent all my life using hand tools - except for an electric drill - but this project needs some serious gear.
In between fish tank stuff, I'm refurbishing an old desk to use for my computer, which will free up my drawing table. I have to paint my pedalboard and buy Dual Lock to mount the pedals; I have 'em held on with zip ties at the moment, which ain't ideal. Need to source some blank backplates for Boss pedals. The ones that are out there are expensive for what they are. Maybe I can make my own or find a local sheet metal worker to make 'em for me.
After that, I may even get all my Poser modelling stuff finished and released.

I was planning on making myself a desk for my studio. All my recording gear is strewn about, and I need to get a better handle on it. I just bought a Yamaha MG10XU mixer, Boss VE20 processor, and an MXL 990 mic. I threw in some new XLR cables and a new boom stand too. I ordered some new pop filters, but the darned things are on back order. I might be able to get a new one when I get home, but I don't know when that is going to be...

Well, I hope you get time to put it all to good use. It's a shame we can't get a Rendo house band together but geography and all that gets in the way.
I've had to put all my music plans on hold for a while. A friend wants me to sing and play guitar on his album - then go out and tour with it - another friend wants to get a new band together just for fun. I'm stuck with jamming along at home to backing tracks and the like. Hoping I can convince Claire that I absolutely need a new Phaser, Chorus, Distortion and Overdrive. Oh, and a Compressor, another Delay...

It's been a money pit since I started, too! I had all my equipment stolen several years ago, and the only bright spot during this pandemic has been the fact that my disposable income went up enough for me to start buying new again.

Between the lock down and the ship I am on being out to sea to avoid the virus, I haven't been able to update or anything until now. But I have been busy keeping myself mostly sane.
I started out trying to see if I could learn how to use the morph brush the way it was intended. So I pulled out P7 Kate and started to experiment. Raven was the end result. I did all the morphs on her, then modeled the costume around the morphs
Firestar has been a favorite of mine since I was a teen and watching Spider-man And His Amazing Friends on TV. There are a few different versions of her costume depending on when she is used and why in the story. This was a variation of one of them.
If you have She Freak, why not create She Hulk?
I had just finished watching Avengers Endgame and decided to try to make her comic book costume.
Zatanna's costume was pretty different in Justice League Dark than her usual top hat and tails. I got the boots a bit too high, but I am not going to change it now.
