Hi there

So happy with Poser 12 ?

It's not the first time I can see such an effect. It concerns a morph called "NostrilsCreaseDepth". It creates a nice effect around the nostrils. Using @Ghostship's excellent Cycles2 settings mat (now as a compound node in my library). It renders really beautifully for me, but I find this kind of... "ray of light" around the nose somewhat surprising.

I've checked using P11 and EZSkin3 and it's similar, although somewhat less visible. But I know that when two parts of a body are in contact, I can see a similar effect. I thought that it was because of my EZSkin3's settings, but as it's visible also using Ghostship's mats, I wonder what I could change, except turning the morph down to 0 ?

Thanks in advance

I think what you are seeing is reflection, not SSS glowing. Probably still related to your gloss settings for your skin texture. Not sure what SSS shader you are using. I think I did make one at the request of someone a long time ago but I don't use that myself. I use the free one at ShareCG that Bopperthijs made for EZSkin3. Here are my results with nostril crease at 0 and then at 1. Nose crease 1.jpg

I'm using what you showed the other day in one of these threads. I've just put this in a compound node:

I may, of course, have wrongly reported some values, but I'm not really advanced with the nodes and their purpose. I need to feel more at ease.

I think it's just what Roger Daltrey calls " a trick of the light."

What is your radius value on the SSS node?

What is your radius value on the SSS node?

3.670000, 1.760000, 0.600000

Try reducing those values by half and re-render the image. See if it reduces the glow.

Thanks for your input but I suppose that there's nothing to do: I've tried those values divided by 2, then by 4, tried different falloff methods, sharpness, scale, even tried to change both gloss' distribution: no effect. So that I suppose that it's related to Vic4's geometry.

Thank you, anyway ?

ATM, I'm switching to the PrincipleBDSF node for the skin. I had a similar issue with glowing eyelids and the only solution was modulating the Subsurface value, a very low value, and the radius. The quality of the renders is holding up.
