I've just upgraded from Poser 11 Pro to Poser 12, re-downloaded the installer for the DSON Importer, and installed it to the Poser 12 directory. When I load Poser 12, the Python console says this:
An errror occurred importing addon dson :
ERROR: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found.
An errror occurred importing addon dson :
ERROR: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found.
When I try to actually load a Genesis 8 figure that worked fine in Poser Pro 11, it says this:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:UsersUserDellDSON ContentRuntimelibrariesCharacterDSON ConversionsPeopleGenesis 8 MaleGenesis 8 Basic Male.py", line 1, in
import dson.dzdsonimporter
File "C:Program FilesPoser SoftwarePoser 12RuntimePythonaddonsdson__init__.py", line 4, in
import dson.dzdsonimporter
ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found.
I would greatly appreciate any advice or technical support. Without the ability to import Genesis 8 figures, virtually all of my characters become useless. Thanks in advance!

Poser 12 uses Python 3. DSON is coded in Python 2. DSON will not work in Poser 12. That's pretty final from what I hear.

Poser 12 does not support DSON.
I don't think they (Bondware) can do anything with something they do not own (DSON is Daz Property).
So unless they or someone else figures out a way to get them back in Poser , sorry to say yes virtually all of your G8 characters became useless for Poser 12, as of now anyway.

This problem was flagged in this forum. It’s worth researching before you buy.

Well, luckily, I still have Poser Pro 11, so if push comes to shove, I can pose and clothe my characters there, export the result as a baked OBJ, and render it in Poser 12. The improved SuprFly engine, especially the increased speed, was the main thing I was looking forward to anyway. It's roundabout, to be sure, but at least I can still use my G8 characters while I work on a more direct solution.

No offense, but you don't know what you're talking about. DSON is literally produced by DAZ and given out as a free plugin so that POSER users can import DAZ figures. They aren't stupid. They sell their content to Studio users AND to Poser users. Why alienate us? We're free money. And DSON has worked in every previous version of Poser including 11.3 Bondware version. If it was legal for 11.3, it's legal for 12. The DSON importer has not been harmed - the compatibility with it in regards to POSER has been removed. See my post here: DSON & 12

It's not a problem or a bug. It's been removed intentionally. See my post here:Forum Thread

It's a problem that all Python scripts have with the new Poser. Bondware CAN'T fix it. DAZ has to do it, and DAZ hasn't updated DSON in years, and I don't expect them to start now.

No offense to you but I dont think you know how to fucking read.
where in the fuck do you see me saying DSON does not belong to Daz ?
and where do you read anything about me talking about legal or not ?

DSON is one way. Another one is what the Blender community has been doing for quite some time now: developing Python scripts that allow the import of Genesis characters (there are several approaches by now).
So for Poser you wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel completely. Most of the already existing code could be used further on. But there is no one in the Poser fan community who is willing or able to do that and invest time for it.
If Bondware wanted a Genesis importer, they would put a programmer on it.

Looks like Iuvenis_Scriptor is able and willing to do it. Maybe you could drop him a few pointers.
