Subject: First impressions of Poser 12: sloooooow

First of all the question alot ppls asked me: Can i finally render with an rtx20xx to render in p12 after they patched it out on p11? Yes, you can and iam pretty sure the 30xx-series will work on p11 too if youre willing to use a version like 11.0.4.something and below, once i have my planned 3090 somtimes next year i can check that.

Ya at the beginning i was all blinded by the new features too but then when i work seriously with it i noticed how slow p12 is. Why is p12 eating up 40gb ram right at the start? Why is it taking so long to load? Why it freezes after i renderd one pic? Why still opengl for preview? Why is p12 not very useable at all? Seriously even the pretty buggy version of p11 iam using because i can render with my 2080 there works better for me than p12 does mostly But the most important question: Why is there still no real multithreading? Actually i know the answer on this one for sure: The basecode of this programm is probably still something from 20-25years ago! And then you want me to pay 130bucks for basically a renderengine and denoiser? I know poser has more to offer but still... slow, so i rater use other programms wich usually need a fraction of the time poser need.

If you really wanna make poser popular again it dosent help smacking new things to it when the baseprogramm is still crap...

Well, they did warn us that there would be bugs.

However, I have not noticed that P12 is slow. Rendering in Superfly is much faster for me than in P11.

But I still prefer Firefly.

I also find it a lot faster to render, with a 2080 Super. I think the Optix setting is faster than the non-Optix setting. Have not seen much freezing after rendering (although a few times I have had the computer seem to just keep rendering forever when the render finished, but not usually). Performance within the program is mostly good, there are just a couple things that are slow, like loading a pose when IK is on.

I've been using Poser ever since version 1 ( came on floppies) and I have to say that so far P12 is very disappointing. This reminds me of the launch of Fallout: New Vegas. Bethesda had Obsidian hurry the launch for Christmas. It was buggy as all get out to the point of it nearly sinking the franchise. However, the bugs were quickly fixed, and it became the most popular of the Fallout series. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the same will happen here.
