My computer is a Dell, and though you can see other settings if you pick "Advanced power settings," it doesn't actually accept them if you pick them. Your only choice is the Dell plan.

However, you can change the Dell plan so they match the high performance settings. Near as I can tell, the ones that matter for Poser are the CPU settings and the graphics settings. Set at 100% or Max performance.

Maybe see if you can change the plan settings under "Changed advanced power settings"?

OK, I got my Alienware laptop through Dell, so this explains why there's only the Balanced option.

If you're only seeing this,

power.PNG

click on the circled arrow for the high performance option.

That's my problem, I'm ONLY seeing the Balanced option. There are no other options, or ways to get to other options, on that dialog. The rest of it is totally blank, so as far as I can see, the Balanced option is the ONLY option I have available.

Thanks for your suggestions @randym77 and @RedPhantom. I'll keep this in mind, and see if I can figure out a way to change it.

I've a Dell here Miss B. An older tower. The option is available to me. It is also shows on a new machine I;ve built. It could be that it won't show on a laptop because it's purpose is to slow down battery use irregardless of your machine make or model. The only laptop here is a Linux box so I can't check that idea out. Both towers were set to Balanced after the last updates. I have changed that and there is a noticeable speed increase on both machines.

If you only have one listed power plan, you can click "Create a power plan" on the left to make a new one and customize it however you want.

I may have to check that out, though what type of settings, and how I should set them up, are still going to be a mystery, but I'll definitely look into it. Thanks!

It will start by asking what kind of plan you want it to be, pick "High Performance." Then there are some settings about turning off the display (do whatever you want) and putting the computer to sleep (which personally I'm not a fan of, at least for desktop computers).

After you create the plan, you can click "Change plan settings" next to it, and then "Change advanced power settings," but I'm not sure any of them need to be tweaked. In mine on this computer (not my rendering computer), I have "Intel Graphics Settings" which can be set to "Maximum Performance". And Processor Power Management, you'd certainly want Maximum Processor State to be 100% and System Cooling Policy to be Active. You could raise the Minimum Processor State too, not sure how important that is for sustained tasks though.
