Hi guys,
I see Reflection_Lite_Mult and Reflection_Kd_Mult in the Poser surface and I can read the help description of what they do, but I have no idea WHY. I can see the practical application of every other node and input in that root node except these, yet they seem important enough that they are still part of the program.
Do they still have a purpose? Did they EVER have a purpose? Were they create to solve some Firefly limitation? Do they still have a function in Superfly? Could somebody please offer a situation where they would be needed or useful?
Thanks!

You don't need it. It is an old holdover hack that was never removed from the PoserSurface. Many old models still have that fully activated so whenever you come across it just uncheck the boxes and continue doing what you're doing. There are better ways to implement those features.

There are scripts that remove these checkmarks

Thank you. But I don't understand what the point of the features WAS.

I know Snarly's SceneFixer removed the checkmarks but it doesn't work in P12. IIRC, someone else (Structure?) wrote a small script to do exactly the same function but it may not have been updated for P12 also.

I don't MIND them; I just wanted to understand them.

This is what I found as written in Poser 8 Revealed: The Official Guide
Reflection Lite Mult. An option to multiply the lighting effects into the reflection map.
Reflection KD Mult. An option to tint the reflection map by the diffuse color
And here is a posted discussion from 2007 on why not to use it.

And just in case you're using Karina's Sasha-16 for your vic4's you will find a script that runs in poser12 that does this, plus a lot more.
