This might be a stupid question but... Is it possible to only have reflections on part of a single texture? For instance, if I have a bump map that raises a very specific area of a shirt, is it possible to only have the raised portion reflective?

Not sure the node set up, but with masking and blend nodes it does seem very possible. Node gurus? Could you come up with the right configuration?

Yes, attach a mask to the reflection value black for non reflective, white for reflective on the area you want to reflect. Quick example using the ball primitive.

Thanks. I'll try that tomorrow when I get a chance. It certainly looks like just what I'm looking for.

And you'll want to invert the mask and apply that to the Diffuse_Value because whenever the specular reflection increases, the diffuse reflection decreases. Total reflection cannot exceed 1.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I've figured it out. Thank you so much for all the help. I have hundreds of question if I'm being honest so I really appreciate you folks being here to help me out with all my dumb questions.

Here's an example of using a mask to control what is metallic/mirror, and the inverse of that mask for diffuse value.

Firefly render: masked metallicity - Firefly.jpg

Superfly render (using metallicity in the PhysicalSurface root); I think I have the roughness of the metallic/mirror areas too high: masked metallicity - Sfly PhysSurf root.jpg

You can render the PoserSurface root in Superfly, though I zeroed out the displacement since Superfly doesn't have micropoly displacement.

I'm not sure I can follow all those nodes but that looks amazing. Appreciate it.
