Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 27 1:25 am)
Yes Nod. I've seen the Purchases folder with P11, but since I manually install everything to my Poser Runtimes, I don't have anything in the Purchases folder. In fact, I don't like it, but I don't think there's any way to hide it if you don't use it.

If you are installing purchased content under the Purchases Tab, the content will show up under the Purchases runtime. There is no way around it if you are dependent on this particular feature. That was a major uproar when the feature was introduced and no way to redirect installation to a different runtime of your choice. Like Miss B, I would rather download and manually install my content. Unless there is an improvement later on in future versions, I rather do the extra steps than scratch my head wondering where Poser placed my purchases.
Poser places purchases in the self named runtime based on where you've established your Poser 12 content folder. I boo-bood and have 2 so ... based on my latest update that is the Purchases folder it goes in... I don't mind, but I know how it can be aggravating. Since I had a Renderosity runtime ... this just updates that. I'm ok with it ... but like you I would still prefer to have more control.

Exactly. I doubt I'd change my way of installing content even if they improve the installation from within Poser feature. I like having my files in the Runtime folders I want them in, so as long as the Geometries, Textures and PMDs are in the appropriate folders, I can put the Materials, Poses, etc. where I want them. It's how I've always done it since coming back to Poser with P9, and I doubt I'll change that method as I'm so used to it, it just makes perfect sense to me to do it that way.

Look at the location of each purchase folder. I have 2 also. One is for Poser 11 and one is for Poser 12. Each one creates its own purchases runtime

I always manually download to my compy and then use the Unzip feature within the program to place to external drive runtime. I don't even open the Purchases tab because I dont want those on my computer to blow put the disk space. So you still can install from within Poser, don't have to open Purchases.

I have no trouble finding items in the Purchases folder. If people bothered to actually read my query, they'd have seen that I was asking if anyone had had Poser 12 create an EXTRA Purchases folder with the new update. I even included a screen shot. ?
One is likely from Poser 11. You said you had that too. Right-click on one in the runtime and open it in explorer to see where it's located. Then check the other. I have 2. One is F:\Poser stuff\Poser 11 Content\Purchases\Runtime and the other is F:\Poser stuff\Poser 12 Content\Purchases\Runtime

I wondered why I couldn't find my recent purchases after updating Poser 12 to the latest version. I installed them from within Poser, the same way that I've been doing since Poser 11, but they weren't showing even though they came up as installed. After closing Poser and trying again, I find they're all going into a new Purchases folder! Has anyone else had this happen to them?! Double.jpg
