all these years i glossed over the Insert formula on the menu, don't have the faintest idea how to write a write a formula.

what really hoping for is something like a volumetric shader, something inside clouds besides just picking a color. something like generate random lightning bolt shapes with volumetric clouds.

There is a great Carrara formula feature resource. It is in French but a math formula is universal, supposedly. Everyone communicates in math in scifi movies.
