Hello goofygrape
This method of installing Brushes is the best one I have found thus far
Best Free Brush Pack for Blender - Orb Brushes Grant Abbitt who is the tutorial creator also has several other video on his channel covering how to use Alphas and other types of images files as brushes
Hope this helps

My sculpting brushes are in a folder on the desktop, so I still need to add these to Blender. That tutorial was good but shows how to use them not much on installation.

Sorry goofygrape I had rewatched that tutorial and there he does explain how they are installed but here is another one that might be more useful it is for Blender 2.8 but the procedure is still the same for current version of Blender as well
Blender 2.8 Tutorial - How to Create & Import Custom Sculpting Brushes
Hope this one helps more

Lobo3433; Good, God! I've watched that over and over, also many more wow I guess I'll do it again. I just must have missed it :( I did find a way to install some blend files tho, go to the file icon, then amend, use fake user, go to the blend file you want to install, then amend again, it will then install, but you have to it over and over to finish all files you need. ( it is also a big butt ) haha, a lot of work.

There is a Brush addon I have never used it so not familiar how good it works if I am not mistaken and I could be totally off on this but Brushes that are not standard with Blender will always need to be added to the the project your working on using the append feature described in the tutorials they are treated like an asset file again I can might be totally off base on my comment I have not gotten to sculpting in Blender in my personal skill level so have not done much investigating or learning on all the features available. Take a look at this Brush Addon it is free and it might offer more of a solution for you than advice I have given so far.
Blender Add-on overview: Brush Manager for Blender ( free or paid )
Again truly hope this helps
