During today’s gallery maintenance we have changed a few things.

You may notice a new look and feel in some areas but there are a few new enhanced features as well!

* Multiple Gallery Image Uploads
* Render Reward Tip Jar
* You can now leave multiple comments on artwork
* Enhanced zoom features for images

* 5 image upload per hour is now enforced to prevent gallery flooding

I am using Firefox with the latest update which installed just a few hours ago and an update to Windows 10 as well. So, I am up to date. All videos, no matter who posted them, including mine are broken. I don't even have the media player showing up.  Everything was working before, so it is something in the code...

They play on my laptop (Firefox) and phone (Opera) but yes I've ran into some videos that worked one day and didn't work the next day... weird!!

I'm running google chrome.. and i've recently watched ( in the last hour)  Enigma- man's F22 animation it worked fine...

@Darkglass: You have violated copyright by posting that screenshot. You will pay.... I'M KIDDING.  When I click on a video I don't even have the media player showing. That's my problem, no media player. I have encountered the odd one not playing in the past but this has to do with the update to the gallery, Firefox or Windows 10 that all happened today. All of my videos are mp4 format so it can't be that.

Maybe Putin saw my anti-Russian content and after seeing it said "Screw you, Den... LOL

@enigma-man - I posted the screenshot... Robert Zemeckis and Good Year said exactly the same thing about your video... but they said you got nothing they want LOL!

There's a way to re-encode those video files online so they play every time... I helped someone before with this, just can't remember exactly

I see that the incredibly shrinking artist gallery pages feature has been removed. Good! I hated that feature.

It's not a video coding issue. I looked at what format was acceptable back in 2019 and have uploaded several videos all in mp4 format with no problems until today.

I did some detective work. Dick Tracy is on the case. That was my nickname when I was in school many moon ago. It seems to be a Windows 10 or Firefox problem on the computer I am currently using. I powered up an older computer with Win 7 and with Firefox. The video player shows up and videos play fine.  It has nothing to do with the changes so I apologize for assuming it was due to the site changes. (Hangs head in shame).  Not knowing what to look for is going to make it difficult to solve the problem. I'll figure it out eventually.

We did switch to a new video player. Like the old one, it relies on JavaScript. Do you have any plugins installed on your browser? Sometimes ad block plugins can interfere with certain scripts, but I haven't had any issue with that so far. Firefox also has privacy options that can interfere, so that may be something to check on? 

@enigma-man - No need to apologize my friend, if you feel that way then I will start to feel sorry too... and it doesn't help anyone, that's for sure... let's work it out. Yes... I do have a Win7 with Firefox laptop LOL!

@lauraguo - it's usually the hardware accel. that doesn't agree with the video player inside the browser... could be a b uffering issue also... I see sometimes the video loads right away entirely (the tracking bar)... sometimes it doesn't want to load all the way and it just hangs like quarter way in

I am never much for commenting on this kind of stuff. I am holding out any kind of opinion till I am sure lol. I know I luv the art and the family feel this site offers or offered,  but that is starting to feel a long way away. When I joined this site, it took me a year or more to pluck up the courage to post a pic. This new add a point blah... no thank you. I couldn't give a crap if someone sold  any art I posted. Its just there free to use. Okay yes I have a opinion already... when did the beauty of art and sharing go away to be replaced by commercialism???

I wanted to give credit to the Vendor when I posted an Image earlier, but the drop-down menu only showed a few options from this Vendor's Store and there is no scrolling option.

You can type in the box (where the red arrow is pointing) to find the product you're looking for. The system searches for matching phrases as you type which narrows down the results in the dropdown. This is also why there isn't a scroll bar anymore. Does this help?

Will keep this in mind :)  Although enigma-man's issue is the player itself isn't showing at all. Just a blank space where it's supposed to be.

katyee, are you referring to the tip jar? I'll communicate any feedback you have with the rest of the team.

When you click on a thumbnail in the gallery it doesn't open in a new window or tab... it takes you to the image and then you have to hit the back button to get back to the gallery?

This is going to be hard to get used to... hitting the back button everytime you want to return to the gallery page... I got used to closing the window/tab once I was done viewing/commenting... so I ended up closing everything entirely as I was on my last browser window that was open lol

TwiztidKidd, good catch! Don't get used to it because it's not a thing anymore. (I fixed it.)

Artwork should open in a new tab if you're clicking on thumbnails and titles from pages like featured, sections, genres, etc. As always, let me know if that's not the case.

The images on the Activity Feed page do not open in a new window but that's always been like that... then there's that blank space down the middle of the page... images on the left and feat. news on the right... nothing in the middle... blank. it's not a very appealing format.

Ah, yes. The only links I changed were the ones on the quick view popup and on these kinds of tiles, to match what it was before:

I've never used that quick view feature... and you have to click on it? might as well click on the image... but maybe others find it useful... You can put the flag icons on the thumbnail... for L anguage N udity V iolence that would be cool.

Can you make it like on Instagram... where you can delete (hide) any comment posted on your images? (only on your own images)

I know my media player problem was on everyone's mind except for the guy who posted before this post...  :) 

My problem is solved. Ghostery  is an ad blocker and was preventing the new media player from even showing up. It's disabled for this site.

I always had my Firefox set to open in a new tab, but I'm also used to using right-click on a gallery thumbnail, because the first option offered is "Open Link in New Tab".  Unfortunately that doesn't automatically take you to the new tab, but works well if you pick out a few images, close the main gallery, and then just check out each of the chosen images, closing each tab when finished viewing each.

I know that when you want to give credit to a vendor, you can enter their name and start typing the product name for a list of products, but since some vendors like to put their name at the beginning of all their products so it becomes more impractical. Or if it's a vendor that supports a figure extensively, and you start with the figure because you don't always know the exact spelling of the name but you know you'll recognize it when you see it, but then you get something like this

and it's not there and you can't scroll to find it.

Issue with new images not showing up in section, genre, and user gallery pages has been fixed. :)

We have also added a scroll bar to the vendor products dropdown based on RedPhantom's issue.

Ok, so "galleries" "new" is limited to six pages, how do I view all artworks now?

I'm hoping this will will change as well since I can only keep up with the gallery on the weekends and by then most will be beyond the 6 pages and going to each section is not fun :)

Otherwise, maybe having the ability to search the entire gallery by dates would be good instead of having that option only in the separate sections.

As one who gets to check all the images in the galleries, I would like to be able to go back more than 6 pages. New art is the most efficient place to find the images but right now if I miss a day, I may have problems.

I don't have time for "What's New" anymore I just want to see what artwork the artists I follow posted and jet. Perhaps you can make the Activity Feed look like a gallery too, give it a gallery aspect... the current format is terrible. Thanks!

That's an interesting idea. Will keep it in mind. :)

The changes made may have also wiped out everyone's history from 2016 back to their first posting whenever it was.  If any of you have images that had hundreds of views on your older images, well, they are likely only a few. None of my older images are greater than ten views and most are only one view. Have a look at your gallery.

This may or not not be important to many of you.

dragongirl has started a thread mentioning this a few threads down from this one. If it is not important to have a history of one's efforts then why bother to tally the views at all if the number of views per image is wiped out when the next update is done ?

"The team" is apparently looking into this.

For those of you keeping an eye on the gallery ebots issue, an update:

We applied a fix a few days ago and have been monitoring the situation. So far, everything seems to be working as intended. Please let me know (either here or via sitemail) if ebots are still not working for you.

(I know that date is suspicious . . . but this is not an April Fool's joke. :smile:)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I sense changes were made and now videos cannot be updated. One can go through the motions of updating after removing the old one yet the old one remains. If the page is refreshed sometimes the updated one shows up but is unplayable with an error 224003, then it reverts back to the original one. Also, there were two boxes last time I noticed, now there is one. People using Chrome and Edge could not view the video I uploaded. Firefox was okay and so was Safari.

The error 224003 seen by Chrome users was a fault on my behalf. Some character speech was encoded as mono. All other effects in the video were stereo. Firefox and Safari had no problems but Chrome and Edge gave the unplayable video message. The problem has been corrected but I cannot update the video because the original is not deleted and keeps showing up. This is now a site problem which I cannot correct. So, the problem is one half mine (which I accept blame) and the other half is Renderosity's fault. :)

For anyone following this issue, it should be fixed now.

This was caused by AWS's CDN caching the old video--we made a small code change to force the cache to update whenever a new video is uploaded.

Of course, if anyone still experiencing this issue, please let me know.

I agree with @RodS on this.  I don't upload freebies myself, but if I'm looking for something someone I know uploaded on a particular day, it takes me a long time to find it, and that's outrageous.  It most definitely should be a "daily" limit, not an "hourly" limit.

I LIKED all her images actually, she's very talented... obviously she wants to be no. 1 in that Top Artists chart that no one cares about
