Subject: Installed new Harddrive and now PP11 won't show DS files

So I installed a new harddrive because my old one died. I had all my runtimes on an external except for things like V4, M4, and anything Daz that had power loaders. Now none of my content is showing up. All I see is V4, but no morphs++ or anything. The files show in the runtime folders. What did I do wrong?

In your profile, you should find a file called LibraryPrefs.xml. This file holds the list of runtimes that will be used by Poser, and in what order.
So,  be sure that even if you replaced your old drive that the paths are still the same.

For  Windows, for example, be sure that the drive letter + the path are the same. In this OS, head over %appdata%\Poser Pro\11 for P11 and %appdata%\Poser\12 for P12.
For Mac's world I don't know, but it's only a matter of path, and the computer also have this file, located somewhere... under your profile?

Don't hesitate to compare one functioning runtime and the one that's failing: something's looks different, especially if you check with your LibraryPrefs.xml.

It's not the library pref file.  The folders show up, but not the content.

If your runtimes are showing up but looking empty of content, assuming the content is actually in the folders and the unthinkable didn't happen, Poser may need time to index it all. If you have a lot, that might take a while. Have you tried letting it sit for a while?

Hard drive crashes are such a pain. Been there done that too many times to count and each time it takes two days to get things working the way they used to.

One thing you can check.

Look in the library display options and check to display the Extended Details panel.

Click on one of the files in the library that DO show up. The extended details panel should show the path of that file.

I can't remember if Poser 11 has the "Show in Explorer" link but if it doesn't you should at least be able to determine where the "good" items are located. And then you'd at least be able to determine if the items that DON'T show up are in a different runtime folder than the one Poser recognizes.

OH one other thing

You said it won't show DS files. Do you have the Runtime folder BOTH as an external runtime in Poser, and as a Poser runtime in DAZ Studio? That trips me up sometimes too

Did you run the .bat files for V-4 and M-4?  From what you are saying the files are there just not the morphs being in the figure.

Oh, maybe that's it. I'll give it a try.
