Been away from this thread for a while and looks like there are sollutons.  I have found another one also but it requires Blacksmith3D

If I am not mistaken, Blacksmith3D's program is subscription-based.  It would be practical if you do extensive texture painting on a regular basis but for an occasional hobbyist, it might be a waste of money.

In the version comparison there is talk somewhere about an option to get the pro version via subscription.

Not sure if this still is possible.
