I read the manual- I cruise ALL the tutorials and forums- I try to learn (really I DO!). I've been trying for months to create a character in Poser, using basic p4 females, and assorted morphs to make big heads, eyes, just some comic-ish stuff. I've tried saving to pz3 than converting to cr2- I've tried saving to cr2 in the library- and I've tried to simply export to .obj all in order to use uvmap to paint my own character texture. However- NO matter WHAT I do- the texture map that uvmap spts out at me is just the default p4 woman map (?!?!) why is this? what am I doing wrong. Of course if I do go ahead and paint my texture map and apply it to my character- it goes with out saying that her eyelids are missing, lips receding, etc etc- because it's NOT the perfect fit. Does this problem make any sense? Is it just impossible to actually create something 'new' in Poser? I'm not a 3d guru- I'm just learning as I go. Sorry for this probably stupid question....but I hate not being able to figure stuff out for myself!!!!!! thanks for any help! The Medicated Housewife :)

When you morph a character you are not changing the geometry, all you need is the basic p4 template. Poser will stretch the texture to fit the morphs (imagine a balloon with "happy birthday" printed on it, as you blow up the balloon the words get bigger) In the image I used the exact same texture, and the morphed one has the texture items (eyes, nose, lips) in the right places.

probably should mention that the example picture is vicky 2 with Snowsultan's odessy texture.

Poser makes a copy of the .obj file and stores it in the Geometries folder for each figure. This file is called the RSR file. If you go into the Runtime->Geometries->P4NudeWoman folder and delete the NudeWoman.rsr file. Poser will then be forced to look at your new .obj file and re-write another .rsr file based on that new one you made. You'll then see the changes that you made. ScottA

Hi webbabe....:) Nah it is quite a complicated process untill you learn it trying to make your own unique uv map for your poser figures. But it really isn't all that hard. I take it your using Steve Cox's UV Mapper program. Somewhere buried within the tutorials section is a full demonstration on how to use the program for making specific and better UV Poser maps for the figure you created. Untill you select new map and go through a series of instructions the program will just spit out a basic one like the one that comes with Poser. You also have to remember to select planer map when doing so that may be why you not getting the right results. I will come back later and add the addy for the tutorial or give you some better specifics to your problem. And you should only need to export the figure you made as a object to do the map with ok....I will add another post here for you with an example if you want just leave a note....

Your .cr2 is still opening the old .rsr file with the old mapping. If you overwrote an existing .obj file, then, as scott pointed out, you need to delete your old .rsr file in the geometries folder and let poser build a new one the first time you open the figure. If you saved your newly mapped .obj file with a new name, you need to open a .CR2 file in a text editor and find the TWO lines that point to the .obj file: "figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:P4NudeWoman:P4NudeWom.obj" ...and change them to point to the name of your new .obj file.

Webbabe here is the addy for Steve's tutorial in the tut's section.. http://www.renderosity.com/tutorial.ez?Sectionid=4 Have a ream of paper ready and print them out so you can have them available when in need...;) I have been meaning to use this myself So I'm going to hopefully be going through it with you myself lol. I like the idea of ripping off the lips eyes etc. and getting a better map outlay for my charachters. I used it once and it world great but have since put together a new machine so off I go again.......hehhe..:)
