The designer of the Avrocar intended a saucer-shaped aircraft that could take off and land vertically (VTOL) and fly at supersonic speed.  The two test articles actually built for the classified project finally achieved relatively stable flight in ground effect (2 or 3 feet above the ground) but never managed controlled flight at any higher altitude and the project was cancelled in 1961.  My Avrocar figure (https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/159106/vz-9-avrocar-flying-saucer) more of less reflects the appearance of the test articles as they looked during late testing, and as restored for museum exhibits, but I got to thinking about what production models might have looked like if the concept had bee successful.   I imaged the manufacturer, Avro Aircraft, marketing a military VTOL aircraft around the world in the early 1960s (although I played somewhat loosely with the time period - there will be a Ukrainian variation).
