A few days ago, I added a couple of Victoria-4-based characters to a blank scene, and was able to pose each of them. (Poser 12, Mac)
Today (after creating another character), I tried loading one character I had created and saved (with hair and clothing), and then another. I got this pop-up window when I tried to load the new second character:
When I clicked OK, the new character loaded, but it took the place of the currently loaded character. The new character had all of its clothing and all of its morphs and textures, plus all of the clothing (but not the hair) of the current (first) character. The new character also took on the name of the current (first) character. But the first character was not there any more.
This happened even if I clicked all of the check-boxes in the pop-up window, or unchecked all of them. Obviously, I'm missing something.
It also now happens, even if one of the characters is Victoria 4 based, and the other is based on some other figure. It even happens with the two characters that I was able to load and pose a few days ago.
Does anyone have any idea of what I should do next, in order to be able to load multiple characters?

You're using the replace figure feature rather than adding a new figure. When adding a new figure from the library use the double checkmarks rather than the single.
Also, if you prefer double-clicking the item in the library rather than the checkmarks, go into edit> general preferences and on the library tab make sure the double click behavior is set to Add to scene

RedPhanton, that was it! This newbie had the single checkmark and the double checkmark mixed up. I did fix the double-click in the Preferences, as you suggested.
Many thanks!

I'd check to make sure one figure isn't parented of conformed to the other.

Use the translation dials on either one of the figures to separate them. It that doesn't work then I would check for parenting as RedPhantom suggest. Judging from the partially hidden Library panel, these figure appear to be home-spun and saved to the Library. Also, according to the Light Control, you are introducing too many light sets to your scene. That will significantly slow down your render if they are all turned on.

thanks, hborre, that was the solution!
