Stupidly poking around, I clicked on clearButtons -- and now I just have ten blank buttons. So, now how do I get back the original buttons and their submenus?

You may need to reset Poser to Factory default through the General Preferences under the Interface tab.  Unfortunately, that will wipe out any custom UI setup you created.

The readme file in the free 'Poser 12 helper scripts and perma-palette' pack (on ShareCG) shows you, with a sample, how to get a custom perma-palette that stays fixed from session to session.

Thanks guys... I also got an answer from a support ticket, and it's simple, easy, and it worked:

Well, that's good to know.  Keep the instructions safely on your computer just in case it happens again.  These threads seem to disappear after a time of inactivity.

It's true that this file is the one used by each new Poser installation, that's the way one keep his/her own buttons after a re-installation, compared to before when this had to be restored each time.
