exploring poser library, lookin at Lights and saw Nature skies and tried several, basically no real change to viewpoint, so what use are they?
normal view..
after adding "stormy skies"
I'd love to add these effects to some views, but how?

You have the LIGHT category selected so it wouldn't make any change to the background it would only add or change lights in the scene.

Ah thanks. Is there something I could select that would show those as skies?

Yes, FIRST, go to Included, Nature, Bryce skies and select the Background prop, so you have the correct prop to put materials on., Then go to your Materials folder in the same runtime (Included) and select the same subfolders: Nature-->Bryce skies. They are all there. THEN you can change the lights from the Lights folder to make sure you get the exact effect with the same name for the Lights. Just make sure you click the Replace checkmark (the single one) and not the Add checkmarks (the double) so you don't pile on the lights.
