this actor is Ben 2, who works for most of my needed poses and I can alter body parts that don't fit into included poses. here I'm using one of ben's sleeping poses but his eyes are open. I want to show them closed. but none of the eye controls work to close the eyelids, and eyelids have no separate controls. in a quandary here. anyone got good suggestion?

You are looking for a facial expression that does not exist for Ben.  Go to the Parameters/Properties panel and select his head.  Navigate down to Face morph > Eyes; use the Blink dial to close his eyes.
