Hi fellow Poser user,

I'm almost ashamed to ask, but I have spend a good portion of the last Weekend on applying morphs to a conforming clothing item and I can't get it done.

As the base for working on the morphs, I use the OBJ file that was created in Poser in the process of making the original obj file a conforming clothing item. As Nerd3D told me, I load this newly created obj file back into the viewport, with Welding option checked.

Then I save that obj file, also with Welding seams checked.

To make sure everything is welded, I checked in Blender.

If I'm not mistaken, this obj file has become the one I can use for creating the morphs, right?

I created a full body morph, imported it to the clothing, the vertex count seems to match, the morph channel shows in the parameter panel, but it won't work.

Any hint would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

BB

Which version of Blender are you using? The import and export options have changed in the last few versions

@ RedPhantom

I'm working in Blender Version is 4.2
You are correct, the import and export options are different from previous versions.

In the Import Dialog I created a Poser Import Preset for OBJ files, under options I ticked Vertex Groups and Validate Mesh.
In the Export Dialog I checked Selection Only, because Lafemme is mostly present when I build something for her, so I make sure, I have to deal only with the clothing.
I also chose UV Coordinates, Normals, Apply Modifiers, Object Groups and Material Groups.

Does this match your settings to a degree?

I don't weld any polygons. I work with the original obj. Here are my import settings.

And here are my export settings.

The scales are crossed out because you don't need to change the scale. I saved that because I prefer to work with a larger object and this saves me the hassle of remembering to shrink it when I export.

@RedPhantom

The important settings you are using are just like what I have.

The export settings are a bit different. I also use Material Groups, because I like to work with material groups in a mesh.

I've struggled with clothing items that just don't seem to fit because the morphs in the target figure don't match the morphs in the clothing.  Dealing with Poke-through was my life.

But, I recently purchased Ken1171's AutoMorpher.

AutoMorpher for Poser 12 Poser Python Scripts Ken1171_Designs

Fantastic product.  One click is all it took to fit clothing to one of my most troublesome characters.  Installing the software so that it appeared in Script's menu was a breeze, but it does require that you enter your Renderotica name and password to confirm your purchase.  I suspect Ken1171 has been burned by pirates.

I'm back today to buy some other Ken1171 products.  I was hoping that he discounted them for Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but no.  Still worth the price.

Poser developers could do worse than incorporating utilities, like Ken1171's into Poser 14.  They make tedious tasks so much easier.
