First post here! I'm hoping some of you Poser veterans can help give me some insight. I'm working with Bryce3D and Poser 4, and my current project (read: first project) doesn't lend itself to post work. So, I'm trying to get a lot of detail into my Poser figures through transparency maps and hi-res textures for the figures. I'm looking into the UV Mapper program now; is that the best way to create hi-res textures for Poser figures? Also, I've not been able to find any good tutorials on transparency maps for hair (i.e. actually creating the texture, applying it correctly, etc.). Any recommended links? Any other suggestions/techniques for getting more detail out of Bryce and Poser would be greatly appreciated!

While I can't lend much to what it takes to make hi-res texturs, or using Bryce with Poser (too impatient for Bryce's painfully slow rendering engine), I do have a good link for hair textures (transmap, et al). Check out Yamato and Kozaburo's tutorial. It's excellent, and seeing as how Kozaburo makes some of the finest hair models and textures, I'm pretty sure this technique works. :)

Just what I was looking for! That site is going to be a VERY helpful resource. Thanks, whoopdat! I can't wait to get home from work and dig into the material. Some pretty sweet images there too... ^_^

I think nearly everyone would agree that Whoopdat pointed you at the cream of the crop for hair trans info! To make the job of getting your Poser stuff into Bryce without a lot of browsing and head scratching, check out VueMaster. UVMapper is the best way to map your creations for textures. You would still need a third party art program (such as PhotoShop or PhotoPaint) to actually create the textures.
