Hi! I am new to vue and to this forum, and I had this image with the following text in an unrelated thread...so I deleted it from there, and brought it over here, in hopes of getting more feedback! :) I got it done... this is a "final render" setting... I think sometimes a lower render setting allows the vegitation to look more realistic instead of smoothing it too much... if that makes sense? I got Lyne's Creations macaw that does not need poser...and I wanted a jungle setting for it.. I just used the vue 3 default grass on both the ground and the terrain! I was so surprised at how it came out! I have no idea how to change the materials anyway! The hill is not THAT close, but it just worked! *thrilled* ! I also must agree with zstrike... Lyne's models DO pop right into vue, all dressed! This is a "no post" pure vue picture, other than resizing it and putting my name on it. I call it "Jungle Outlook".

Hi Sara, This is very nice for a beginning image. The macaw does look lovely, and I think you caught the lighting on the coconut leaves just right. I'm not familiar with the problem you related in Bryce where the material doesn't "connect" properly between terrain and ground plane. So I'm not aware enough to be enthused about how Vue handles it. I know that I've always been pleased with how Vue has handled materials in general, pretty much as one would expect them to work. So I can be enthusiastic on that basis! :) You can alter material by double-clicking them (or right-clicking them) to open the Material Editor. Much of what you'll find there is self-explanatory or just plain fun to fiddle around with. There are also some good tutorials in the manual that will help familiarize you with the options. Oh, and welcome to Vue! :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit

EXCELLENT Vue image, especially for a FIRST! You have some great VUE's ahead, I think...

This could be what Sarah's talking about. This is a simple Bryce 4 Terrain with the unaltered "Whole Mountain" material applied to both the terrain and the ground plane....

And then, this, is a quick one of a Vue terrain with the unaltered "Rock and Grass" applied to the terrain and the ground plane.....

Yes! This is just what I mean, about the terrans and materials in bryce!! I wonder if they (Corel) are going to "fix" this...-probably not- and I am actually worried that Vue 4 will change this wonderful thing.. take it away... when they update the terrain editor and the way it handles materials! I saw the vue sneak peek...and the mountian there looks like the way materials are handled in bryce! worried I plan on waiting to see sample images of this very part of vue 4 before paying MORE money for a program I am already happy with... And thank you very much for your compliments! Now I have to live up to them, for my next effort! :)

Don't you worry sparkel. I know that the people who have been beta testing Vue 4 are VERY conscious of such things... there's no way E-on is going to "hurt" the material editor!
