Attached Link: Here it is without any textures. Just color.

I have been trying to import a model into Poser with UV coordinates from UVmapper. Each time I try, poser gives me a message saying "Error in plugin FFObj.arp. The model loads into poser just fine before I try and give it UVs. . . Any suggestions? I'm using Poser4 with the Pro pack on Windows98.

I don't think its the UV's, but when you export the obj from UVMapper, do you have any boxes checked besides export materials and export UV's?

Wowa. . . your right. I had "Normals" and "UVMapper Regions" turned on. I guess it doesn't like that. Too bad those are on by default.

But. . . I just tried it again attempting to use multiple groups from another package, through UVMapper with only those two settings and I get the same error. So. . . am I to assume that you can only have one image per object? That doesn't sound right. . . I thought I read a tutorial in the manual that allowed you to create other groups. . . Sheesh. . . I wish the error message gave me more information. I don't even know what I'm doing wrong. :-/

You should be able to use more than one image per object...you can have one per material (usemtl) actually. Normals and UVMapper Regions shouldn't cause any problems either because Poser doesn't even read those (at the same time, Poser doesn't read those so I generally delete them from my object to cut down on file size).

I thought maybe something else was in play, but it doesn't sound like it now. I'm now thinking that maybe your obj plug-in is corrupt. You may wish to manually delete it and reinstall Poser (after backing up custom items first to be on the safe side).

FFobj.arp is a file in runtime/plugins in both the main poser & in the poser updated. It's possible that you don't need to do a complete reinstall, try reinstalling the poser update instead.

Thanks shadowcat, good tip.

oops just noticed the pro pack info, maybe you need to do a full reinstall or just reinstall propack? (I don't have PPP)

I only just installed everything this morning. I got Poser in the mail over the weekend. :-) I'm up with all the latest patches too. . . you really think deleating that ffobj.arp is going to do anything? It's not even a day old. . :-/

what model are you using/working on? is it a poser model or one you made?

shadowcat posted Tue, 22 May 2001 at 9:05 PM

no, not deleting it, just reinstalling the patch over the old. It doesn't matter how long it has been on your computer, files can become corupted there's no time limit.

weggingt - If the model is one you can send to me, I'll take a look at it here to see if I can find the problem. I promise not to use the model for anything other than helping to track down the problem. Steve stevecox@optonline.net
