Hi all With the news of Vue 4 I have gone out and bought a new motherboard and processor for my 500mhz processor. I'm about to kick in with a 1.2GHZ Athalon (computers are so silly these days) to really give Vue 4 some power. Anyway, at some point today I will vanish and knowing my luck with computers I shan't be coming back up again. If I do, I'll see you sometime tomorrow if The Force is with me, otherwise, it's been great knowing you all :-) This is Jody, last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH alien attack, chomp, chomp, SCREAM!!!!

Wow! I guess I ought to be thinking about upgrading too. I have a 600 mhz Athlon, but that 1.2 GHZ looks MIGHTY sweet! Good luck Jody--

Hey, while your at it, get yourself a dual and Win 2K...
jarm posted Thu, 24 May 2001 at 5:57 AM
Nah, 1.2 will do me fine, I'm going to run Windows 3.1 for added performance :-)

Cheers, I think you're right! :)

Luckily I am fine, pII 800mhz:) and 256mb RAM, at least for another few months I think....damn computers are obsolute in a few days it seems....I remember when my 75mhz 24mbRAM was a beast:-D of course we can always go back to my commodore64 days I think that would run Vue4 perfectly:-DDD

My PIII 1gHz is starting to slide down the chart! Well, at least I can still take pride in my 512 megs of ram, 64 meg 4X AGP Gforce Ultra video card and 21" monitor. What am I going to have to do? Buy a dual P4 2gHz running Windows XP Pro? -SMT
I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

Dual P4 2Ghz running Win XP are already in the "backrooms". Look for them around late summer, early Fall in the U.S. This is actually a great time to be buying hardware as the computer industry has been in a slump and deals for power machines are everywhere... They will need the dual P4 Xp'er's this Fall to re-hype the buying market. I suggest Intel, Dell, Compaq and Gateway use VUE 4 as their tradeshow demo app to blow away the crowds (I would suspect XP will run "legacy apps" that run under Win 2K)...

Personally, I'd like to upgrade when the Dual Processer Athlon 4 motherboards are out . . .

Win XP, are you guys as mad as me ;) Stay with Win 2000, it will still be far better than XP for graphics. I will go to Mac OSX, before I touch XP. Cheers

Yes I agree with you there Cheers. I love new advances in technology but have learned (the hard way) not to be TOO FAR ahead! I like to see a technology around for at least a year before I will jump on it. Windows 2000 has gone through a lot of seasoning and is very good and very stable. Win XP MAY BE fantastic too, but I'll wait for a year there too to see how it shakes out... Same with P4 chips, I am ready now buy a fast Dual P3 system because all the major bugs are out of them, and all the major software works o.k. on them. P4 may yet be a bit risky, plus RAM for them is VERY EXPENSIVE right now. But because of the looming P4 releases, it will then DRIVE DOWN the P3 prices as "old technology", making a Dual P3 a very attractive and relatively inexpensive purchase...

bah. you can laugh at me. i have a celeron 466 and STILL 64 measly smeggin ram. oh, and a sucky voodoo banshee video card.

64 meg RAM here, which is twice as much as I had last year, so I consider it a 200% improvement. And video card? LOL! The only cards I collect are Tarot. ;)
