ZBrush artist, Glen Southern has graciously given his tutorial on importing Poser figures into ZBrush to be housed at Poser Arcana. It's a wonderful tutorial and a great intro for Poser and ZBrush users alike. Thank you, Cris Creative Director, Poser Arcana http://www.awakemm.com/poserarcana

I couldn't find it on the demo and was wondering if just the demo had import disabled. I guess I'd better go read this :-). Ingrid

Glen just advised me that this tutorial applies to the about to be released version 1.23. We will revise the tutorial to reflect this. Yes, bloodsong, not only does it import, but as you'll see in the tutorial, it will allow you to work with the mesh. Some pretty cool things are being done. Cris

I am unclear on the import, do you need to bring in each tex map, or does it read mtl files? Dan http://www.neca.com/~dwilmes/cr2edit.html Sorry Win only for software http://www.zenwareonline.com for ZenPaint, ZenTile, ZenGrid and VueMaster

ZBrush presently only brings in the geometry where you can manipulate it and paint the figure. You cannot yet bring in texture maps, but that is something that is being contemplated for a future release. The ability to export the texture maps is also being looked into. Cris

I got this information from Pixologic: "TO UPDATE at RENDEROSITY Poser forum: A) This tutorial (Glen's) WILL work with version 1.13 and above... B) In ZBrush you CAN import the texture that is associated with the imported Poser mesh, painted, modified and exported back to be used in Poser." The other thing I found out is that when you make changes to the geometry and export the model, it makes three files: the obj, new UV coordinates and a .mtl file (which can be read by Bryce). In addition, Pixologic added: "In order for objects that are imported into ZBrush to retain the exact points and polygons count, the TRIQUAD needs to be set to '0' (especially for morph targets). If you don't -ZBrush will try to optimize the object. TRIQUAD is a slider which is available within the TOOL/ inventory/import submenu of the PolyMesh3D 3D tool (star shape tool) -your open door out of ZBrush." I had already found ZBrush to be an wonderful program and now with the addition of importation of OBJs and the ability to do textures, I am truly amazed. Pixologic needs to see whether the Poser community will embrace their program in order to see if there is a need to provide more resources for Poser within it. As one Poser user, I am hoping this will be the case. Cris

Cris, do you need to browse to the textures, or can it read the Poser MTL file? (Or an MTL file in general) Can it use trans and bump maps? That is great that it does the UV mapping, so that its output can be directly used by Poser without intermediate steps.
