I think it's interesting how every artistic interpretation of Cleopatra depicts her as a glamorous, beautiful queen, including in the movies, but in reality the original Cleopatra who reigned in Egypt's late period was one ugly lady. Beauty was not one of her virtues. She would have been quite flattered by the images done of her. :) Melanie

Just thought I might also mention, since there is such a revival in the interest of ancient Egypt lately, that the latest issue of KMT magazine (Summer 2001) has an article indicating that Queen Nefertiti (who, incidentally, was beautiful) has possibly been found (her mummy, that is). The pictures in the article are startling and very exciting. Sorry for getting off topic, but it I just couldn't resist. Melanie
