I've posted here in the past and got very constructive comments. I am hoping for the same again. This image is a continuing attempt of mine to recreate a 14th level AD&D 2nd Edition character of mine (I've been playing her for 12 years) that is a female druid that wears green dragon scale maille in Poser. Caveats: 1) I know the trim sucks, I will work on that later. 2) I am not concerned with anything but the armor at this point. 3) Using the chest armor from Battle Princess by Traveler, purchased from Bbay - with custom textures/colors/etc... 4) I know it looks metallic, I like that.

what a great texture! I love it and would love to see it made for the dCort sea nymph, mermaid and p4fem/vic2 head and body texture too, LOL!!! Maybe just a few of them should actually be shaped irregularly too and not just tilted in other directions...you know, as if they were bent or broken or worn a bit around the edges. Just a thought :)

Thanks for the comments Bia, but I can't post the texture for others, as I stole the pic it is based on from a web site (it is a pic of real scale maille).

I think you are doing a good job with it. It's very tough to get good metalic appearance in Poser. :-) I've been spending a lot of time tweaking poser textures in Bryce to get the look I'm going for on my current WIP and I just can't imagine how I would have been able to do it just in Poser! When you do work on the trim, I think you could make the trim a siler or gold metal, rather than the curled scales. I know that you know that it needs work there, I just wanted to offer that as a possibility. The texture has depth, so you probably are using a bump map, but if not, try making a bump map by making a grey scale copy of yuor texture. You can fiddle with gamma and brightness/contrast to get the detail where you want it for the bump. I haven't fiddled with reflection maps in Poser, but someone a week or two here in the forum posted some nice results on the same armour that really brought the metalic texures alive. since you want a metalic look, serch for tutorials or in the manual on how to use reflection maps, it would add a lot. :-) Just to offer a different take on Green Dragon Scale armour, the link on this post is for an image I did over a year ago. I didn't go as metalic, but it might be interesting to see what I did? I think the dragon scale itself was from a free texture at Chemical Studios? It wasn't the color I wanted, but it was a good starting point. The website is linked over on the right under "web ring top 15". When you get to the straps, I would go a dark leather with a fine bump for added texture. I really do think you've done an excellent job, but I tried to throw out as many constructive suggestions as I could come up with! :-)

LOL, I really need a new keyboard. Any spelling mistakes or lack of punctuation above are the keyboard's fault, really! ;-)

great job on that texture fiontar. I will have to look for the dragon scale at chemical studios. :)

Bia, I haven't double checked, but I am almost positive that was where I got it. If you can't find it, IM me and I'll see if I can dig it out. :-) Latexbard, I didn't make the connection. Once again, I'm amazed what some people, yourself included, can do with textures just in Poser! :-)
