I've been using Poser for about six months, and have just gotten around to trying to import additional characters. The first one I've tried is the 'Adam the anti-dork' character from Renderosity free stuff. Note: I am using a Mac G4 dual processors, one of the new breed that came out late last year. The download folder contained 2 files named Adam.cr2 and Adam.rsr. (Capitalization as indicated.) Following the author's instructions, I moved these files to Poser/Runtime/Libraries/character/characters- Male. But when I bring up the male character list inside Poser, the Adam character is not there. One clue I have is that all the other cr2 files in the folder have the Poser-style icon, and the two new files do not. I've heard that the Mac has a special secret file qualifier so it knows what created a file-- that's why my Pshop-created jpg files always invoke Pshop when i click on them. Could this be the problem? The other thing I wanted to ask about is the above-mentioned rsr file. Does that belong in the character folder? There are no similar files in the folder.Wizzard posted Thu, 21 June 2001 at 2:44 AM
I believe you'll need the PC-Mac importer as teh files though simular have those subtle differances which make it a pain... I believe the programmes are still in the free stuff under utilities... teh best of luck to ye

You have to convert the whole lot from PC into Mac format - just drag the whole bunch of files onto Maconverter and hit "Convert", that's it. You can get the tool from my website, just click above.joezabel posted Thu, 21 June 2001 at 8:16 PM

Martin-- Thanks very much!! The Macconverter works like a charm, and is quite easy to use! I'm sure in the coming months it will become as important to me as my stuffit expander!Wizzard posted Fri, 22 June 2001 at 1:02 AM

While you're at Martin's site, get Macinstaller, too.
