Greetings, I am at my 4th day with Vue and boy did I learn a lot...maybe too much because I had no sleep in the last days lol. Here are some different scenes, please give some feedback, they still have a CG look but hey I just got Vue! ;+) http://216.218.205.172/images/JF/mountlake.jpg http://216.218.205.172/images/JF/Canyon.jpg http://216.218.205.172/images/JF/Canyon2.jpg Let me know what you think. Cheers!

Hey, not bad at all! That is very nice layering on the canyon, and Canyon2 has a rather elegant appearance with the addition of the scrub, and the change in lighting. 4 days, eh? Can hardly wait to see what you'll be making in 4 weeks! Ah, but do get some sleep sometime in there. grin

We like it, is this your first time at Vue? What version is this, or doesn't that matter? Is the guide book very good? Other than all those questions, very sleek. Mike and Sharen SAM'S3D

Hello Flywaver, I agree with Varian about Canyon 2. I think the mountain lake pic looks pretty good for someone only using Vue for a few days now. You're definitely on your way. :) ........ Mike and Sharen, the manual for Vue 3.1 is pretty good. Like most manuals, it doesn't come close to explaining alot of details, but it gives all the basics, and has a number of tutorials for all the features, including several for animations. I don't know yat about the Vue 4 manual, but I guess most people haven't seen it yet either. ;)

Thanks! :) Yes it is my very first days with Vue and I am using Vue 3.1. In fact I played with it for about 48 hours now. :) I like the manuals but they could be a lot better. They did allow me to learn quite a few things though. Check out this variation of the mountlake shot (follow the link). Cheers!

We are getting so anxious about Vue 4, if it is anything like what we have seen from you all, we will be thrilled. Really nice software, very impressive. Oh, yes, and credits to the artist that can manuever the software. Sharen SAM'S3D

Your picture is great. Love the snow. Sharen SAM'S3D

With all this snow I guess Mike and I should start making more snow models, like old fashioned sleds or even new ones, maybe even snow shoes, skies......we could go on and on. Haven't thought to much about snow, since it is now summer. We will have to get started on a winter collection of models.....right? Sharen SAM'S3D

Thanks Sharen, You don't have Vue yet? I think you bought Vue 4 though right? I had great doubts about Vue since I tried version 1 a long time ago but it's now a quite powerful piece of cg software and definately much more friendly than WCS which costs a lot more. Oh! can anyone tell me if Vue 4 will get Mars DTM import capabilities? This would be quite amazing, I love Mars scenes but I guess I can use TG and For Exports Only to import them in Vue 4. :) Cheers!

Wait a minute! Does this mean Vue IS a terrain generator!?! ;) -SMT

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

Dear Flywaver, No, it is so sad we don't have Vue.....boo hoo. But soon, they ship it tomorrow, and then I can play and learn from you all, and don't worry, lots and lots of questions I am sure. Sharen SAM'S3D

MikeJ posted Thu, 21 June 2001 at 4:40 PM

heh-heh, Mike and Sharen will probably have Vue 4 even before I do! I'm still planning on ordering it tomorrow, but I'm going to have to work all weekend. Maybe one of these days I'll just go the route of the "starving artist" and have more time, but I don't think the bank wants to hear that instead of, "The check is in the mail--- really...no, really..." LOL! Looks like I'll be asking alot of questions too. :)

MikeJ posted Thu, 21 June 2001 at 4:42 PM

err, wait a minute, that diddn't make much sense, did it? Lessee... hmmm the ...ahh, skip it, been a looonnng day of paperwork and such drudgery... sigh

SAMS3D posted Thu, 21 June 2001 at 4:53 PM

OH... MY... GOD........Mike you haven't ordered it yet? I am in shock.......who will help me....... Also, we have not been able to go the route of the starving artist, Mike likes ice cream too much. We work regular jobs too, always something to do.......but when I get Vue I will be on a 2 week vacation from my day job, but never from SAM'S3D. Love it too much. By the by, we have a new freebie coming, but it is another surprise, we are not quiet sure when it will be done that is why it is a secret....he he he. Sharen SAM'S3D

MikeJ posted Thu, 21 June 2001 at 5:06 PM

Oh, I'm sure I'll be ordering it tomorrow, and sitting here on Monday anxiously awaiting Mr. FedEx man. But I have to get a bunch of day-job-type-stuff out of the way first, which is what this weekend will serve to accomplish..... besides, I'll be as new to Vue 4 as you will be! I bet there are beta testers among us though, who can't wait to fill us in. :)

SAMS3D posted Thu, 21 June 2001 at 5:28 PM

What a relief, but I am sure you will help us out more than you will know. Gotta go take my dog for a walk, been cooped up in the house all day. Maybe it will take my mind off Vue, nope, Mike and I will just have to talk more about it. Sharen SAM'S3D
