Subject: Agent Smith Shield - Lattice instead of Terrain.

Okay kids, hold on to your hats, here we go, this is fairly simple. 1. A Symmetrical Lattice over a Straight Terrain was decided to be better (in this case) from the start. Remember, this is a WIP, I haven't shown you all of it, yet. Yes, the shield will look like a squashed sphere when viewed directly from the side...it's supposed to, to begin with. Imagine making your own real life shield (remember real life?). Would you rather have a shield that was hammered out of a flat plate of 1/16" thick steel (straight terrain)...OR...would you like to have a shield that was poured from a mold that is, say 1"-2" thick? (Symmetrical Lattice). And, then would love to have the muscles to lift it? My shield (Symmetrical Lattice) will be made "solid" in the terrain editor and then a negative squashed sphere will be grouped to the back of it, giving it that concave shape to the back. You can not do this with a straight terrain, the back would just look like the reverse of the front. In my opinion, a wimpy shield. And, it would limit the finished model, I want to be able to see this thing from all sides and angles and to have it look like a thicker-type shield with two definitive sides. Something Conan would use as a security blanket when it was nap time. The Example picture above is a VERY exaggerated example of what I'm talking about here. No bumps or real textures or anything just the basic idea. These are just examples; Right Side - Represents the Straight Terrain, same model in two angles. It would be curved in the real model, but it would be "flat", as far as thickness or volume. Like a shield molded out of aluminum foil. Left Side - Represents the effect of what I am doing. Same model in two angles to better show itself. I also cut-away the "shields" through the middle so you could see the effect of the thickness, i.e the effect of the Booleaning of what would be a Symmetrical Lattice. After that, I will be attatching arm loops or whatever to the back, finishing it off. Whew...that's it for that...for now. Agent Smith
